My turn to pay it forward! Ocean Players Club members that received letter . . .

Ok, I have gotten help an tips here so it is now a time that I can help others. I called my PVP today as I noticed a price reduction on my cruise I have scheduled in November. My PVP also asked if I got the letter from the Ocean players club about the "up to 25% off" a cruise. I told him I did and that I was informed that I had the lowest rate with the early saver rate and that I could get the casino cash though. He informed me that since I called when the offer first came out they didn't offer any further discount, but now they do, so I got some money off for the letter from the Ocean players club. So if you called before, CALL AGAIN! ! !

All, I know is that I booked my cruise through the OPC less than 2weeks ago for the Carnival Dream on 4/9/11 and I not only received the 25% off of the cruise which by the way was considerably less than what I would consider a good price, but, I also received a $100 voucher which I can redeem at the cashiers cage for chips or coins. I have been on a few cruises which have OPC (ie. Carnival and Princess) and whenever I sail on either one of them, I email OPC and let them know my booking number and what ship I'm on and what date I sail. It is to your advantage if you play in the casino to use your sail and sign card and stay in contact with OPC before every cruise. They do take care of you and when you get to the casino, introduce yourself to the casino host or hostess. Let them know you are appreciative of the Ocean Players Club being a part of the casino on board the ship. That in essence is my opinion. Humble or not. Enjoy your cruise and all it has to offer. It's just waiting for you to have fun. It is what you make it.

It sounds like you got money off because your ES rates dropped rather than anything to do with the letter. Correct?

I got one of those letters, too, but held off doing anything because I wasn't been able to decide if/when to cruise this year. And since I book ES anyway, it sounded like (from previous threads about the letter) that ES would be a lower rate than the "up to 25% off" rate (which appears to be a Past Guest code).

I think I've decided which date to book, so I'll call my PVP and see what he says. Carnival couldn't make things any more confusing, could they? :)

Hmm, it seems Carnival is inconsistent about how it handles things. I was already booked with past guest rate when I got the letter. I decided to call and was given a discount that made my fare significantly lower than the early saver. The agent did have to check and see if my booking was eligible for the discount and it wasn't 25% of anything that I could figure out, so I have to wonder what the criteria is for eligibility and amount.

We tried to use the 25% off cruise and it ended up being more than what you could book with ES~ my PVP said that they take the 25% off of the standard rate...so no savings for us.

Call back or get another PVP... Not only did we book Early Saver BUT we ALSO GOT the 25% off that price in addition to the casino dollars... As a matter of fact, we got 2 cabins at 25% off the early saver rate because my daughter also got the letter and we put her in the cabin with my Mom.... And all of this was done with my PVP..

I did call the 866 on the certificate when it first arrived, and the woman I spoke to was so nasty there was no way I was going to book this with her, and I didn't have to :)

If it will help anyone, the # on the certificate is 1 866 299-5859. It never hurts to give them a call... Good Luck

Does this apply if you are paid in full?

I got 2 price adjustments. One for the early saver rates dropping and another adjustment for the Ocean Players Club letter. I had asked earlier when I first received this letter, but was informed that my early saver rate was a better rate than the ocean players discount. When I called today to get the rate adjustment my PVP mentioned the Ocean players club letter. I told him that I had already inquired about it and was told that the early saver rate was better. He informed me that they were handling it, not having to call the ocean players club, and had me issue an adjustment for it.

If you got one of those letters approx. a month or so ago, CALL Carnival and ask.

I am also sailing her in September, it says on new bookings only, but I have read where some who already are booked were given the discount, I called when I received it but was told I could not use it, but could use the $75 casino coupon.

Not sure if it was because I was paid in full or what.

It's a promo offered by the Ocean Players Club. It's obviously tied to your Casino usage. The letters were sent out about 4 weeks ago, so if you didn't receive one...well...

They do have a list of the folks who were sent letters, so feel free to call them during regular business hours.

Thanks, will do. Has anyone a copy of the letter they could post for me to refer to?

Yes it applies even if you paid in full. Initially Carnival would not honor the 25% if you were paid in full but they had change of heart and decided to do the right thing...

I frequent the casino alot on CCL cruises, and receive a nice amount of perks from the Player's Club. I also did not receive this discount letter. When I called to ask, I was told it was a one time "hit or miss" promo that went out, and I was "missed!"

Yes, please DO call. I called this morning (the 1-866 number) and even though I'm paid in full, they have graciously honored it... finally. The price dropped $125 per person and they are crediting my credit card $250!!! It's not quite the 25% off the price I originally paid, but I am thrilled.

So, with this credit, the casino cash coupon, and the VIP package that is supposed to be waiting for me in the room, this is getting better and better!:D

I would also suggest that you call even if you feel that you cannot use the offerings. My son has booked and paid in full for a cruise on the Dream for May 28 for my DH, DS, son's friend and myself. I called this morning to ask if I could still you the $75 cash coupon and was told most certainly, just take to cashier cage in the casino. I did not try to get anymore off on the cruise itself, as I did not book and pay for it and we get a military discount already.
