Majesty Is Majestic

Recommended Posts

My wife and I chose this cruise to hold us over until our Sept sailing on the Oasis. Certainly didn't disappoint.

Day 1: Parked in parking structure at the port. Arrived at terminal around 10am, onboard around 11am. Process was simple, smooth, and efficient. Once onboard, went to deck 12 (above Windjammer) for Deli sandwiches/salad/desert and to Sorrento's for a slice of pizza.

After lunch, we did our 'usual' tour of the ship while waiting for our oceanview room to be avail (rooms avail at 1pm). Ship is in great shape, well maintained, and (like the Brilliance), just a pleasure to be aboard. At 1pm we checked out our room (deck 7) and napped. Found our luggage delivered (approx 230pm), unpacked, and headed out to the Muster. Muster went from 330pm until approx 350pm.

Went to Viking Crown Lounge for sailaway and enjoyment of the Diamond lounge. Drinks/snacks were great, and hosts/waiters were superb. Did early show (welcome aboard), late dinner, and finished in the Casino (smokey, as most are).

Day 2: Sea Day; breakfast, lunch, and dinner all in the dining room. Service, as is standard all around this ship, was simply superb. Food good and plentiful. Plenty of activities on board (as can be viewed on the Cruise Compasses' on this site). Whitney Houston tribute show in the evening...fantastic.

Day 3: Cozumel; stayed on board ship. Love enjoying the ship when it's relatively empty.

Day 4: Sea Day; Again, endless entertainment to choose from. Deck 7 is a great place to sit/nap/read if you're looking to get away from the hustle. Veteran's get together was cool. Plenty of trivia games in Schooner Bar. Farewell show was done well, and singers/entertainers do a great job. 70's Disco Party followed the show (11pm) and was awesome and well attended.

Disembarkation was a piece of cake. In line (walk off) at 7am, at the car by 730am, home by 815am.

Overall great time. 30+ cruises, and as I've read on this site, the staff on this ship really takes pride in their jobs. Friendly, knowledgeable, and they truly enjoy seeing people having a good time.

Thanks for the review. We'll be on her in October for the first time in over 10 years. Just curious -- what was the veterans get together? I'm a female veteran so when I've attended, it's usually me standing by myself and a bunch of guys talking to each other at the bar. ;) Would be nice if it was something like the Meet and Mingle.

They had a couple (I think 2) get togethers, both in the crown lounge....one had about a dozen people, the other one I was the only person there (it was on the port day at 11:30am, so I didn't expect anyone else to show). They also did a veteran's/1st responders salute in the Centrum on day 4 at 5pm....that was well attended and very well done. Thank you for your service.

Crown Lounge -- that's for everyone, right? And there's a separate area for Diamonds?

I only ask because my wife and I are lowly Golds and wouldn't want to embarrass ourselves...... :o

Viking Crown is open for all guests. However, they rope off an area for 3.5 hours every evening for suite guests and higher (Diamond and above) level C&A members.

Absolutely for everyone. An area will be sectioned off for special events, if necessary, but still plenty of room to enjoy the beautiful views. Probably the most under-utilized area of the ship.

Was not a fan of MJ at first, due to limited choice of venues we usually enjoy, (Mostly for me no Latte machine in the missing lounges :o), but grew to love the little ship for the really great crew that goes out of their way to make you feel welcome.
