Palm Beach

Hi Dave,

Palm Beach is a short bus ride from the terminal, Eagle Beach is a bit further north and

has more of the high rise resorts. From what I have heard Palm beach is a little quieter.

I think you can tell the bus driver you want to get off at a specific resort, like MVC or AMsterdam Manor

Have a look on google maps, you can see the distance.

Actually Palm Beach is where the high rise hotels are . Eagle Beach is the beach a few minutes from Palm Beach and is located before Palm Beach. It's an easy bus ride (@$2.30USD ) to either . Buses run about every 20 minutes . You can walk to the bus terminal from the cruise pier . It's a quick block and a half away .

Is this the closest beach to get to?

Is it the same as Eagle Beach? Docking in Aruba in 3 hours and trying to decide where to go.

Plan on shopping and then beach.

Thanks

Dave can you tell me what you decided to do? We are going in Aruba in January and looking for a nice beach with facilities to visit! Thanks

So lets clarify. When you leave town (or the port) heading to Palm Beach you will pass by Manchebo (not a good option for most cruisers) and then head past Eagle Beach. Eagle is also known as the "low rise" area because the hotels/motels in that area are not very high (or extensive). About a mile past Eagle you will come to the so-called "High Rise" area where you will see multiple large hotels, all-inclusives. and some Condos. And that would be Palm Beach which is the most developed area on the island and also the most crowded. If you continue along the same route you will eventually come to Arashi Beach (our go to place for snorkeling) and will see the lighthouse.

There is a public bus line that goes to all these places (as far as Arashi Beach) with the bus station right across the street from the port. There are also taxis and even a shared van/taxi system (popular with the islanders but not oft used by cruisers).

So to answer the OP's specific question, Eagle is closer to the ship with Palm a bit further along the same road.

Hank
