Blue Water Divers - Bermuda

We've just certified and booked our first ocean dive with BWD in Hamilton. Can anyone tell me how far it is from the cruise ship (we'll be on the Horizon) and the best way to get there?

Thanks!

If it is over by the "Sommerset bridge" and the ship is docked in hamilton, then take the water taxi if it runs early enough.....otherwise take a cab....We made a number of dives over three days and had to do both.

If you need a dive master to guide you, let them know now as they do not really provide you one and you will have to get one.

The dives are not that hard if you have any experience....and you can trail along behind them if you want to. we followed our own profile and course. Bring your own drinks and snacks.....

We had a good time scuba diving. We dove with an outfitter named Blue Water Divers. They were friendly. They had no nitrox (we did not need it, shallow diving), they provided an igloo with ice for drinks, and a small cooler with water in it for drinking. Be prepared to add weight due to the saltiness of the water. We dove on three wrecks our first day and one wreck and a reef the second day. If you are a new diver or you are uncomfortable about running your own dive, tell them in advance so that YOU can hire a "dive guide". This was made known to us the first morning. We were in 30 feet of water and there was no current, so there was no problem. The predive briefing was very good. We enjoyed our dives.

If you can't laugh at yourself, then don't get up from the chair.

Thanks for the info, Woodsmaster. We've already told them we were newbies, so hopefully they'll have a dive guide available. Really looking forward to our first 'real' dive - just certified this past weekend.

You'll have a good time. Water temp is a few degrees cooler than Caribbean. Daughter was wearing 3mm full suit. I was comfortable in a 3mm Shortie....son was wearing a 1mm and was ok as well.

It will take a few more pounds of lead than normal

There is a dive shop called Fantasea in Hamilton that you could have walked to from the ship while docked in Hamilton. If you look at this map from another dive shop, you will see where Somerset Bridge is (to the left) http://www.bermudascuba.com/bermudascuba-divebermuda-map.jpg

To take transportations there check these:

I am trying to decide if I should dive with them and commute from the Dock Yard or book with the ship and get picked up. Whioe in Hamilton I will be using Fantasea.
