Back to back on the Dream.

Mom and I are cruising in January. She requires a HC cabin. I have booked a 3 day then a 4 day. I was able to get the same room for both sailings. I’m assuming we will be able to leave our stuff in the cabin. Question- will we have to disembark and go through the check in process again? Thanks in advance. Been a few years since we sailed Disney.

Yes, you may leave your checked bags and stuff that goes in those in the room.

Yes, you will have to debark the ship. Be sure to take necessary ID/reservation stuff with you to check in again. And something to keep you amused. Time off the ship varies from 20 minutes to 2 hours before you are allowed to re-board.

Yes, you are able to leave all your stuff in your cabin. We tell our host to not bother with our cabin on that morning as we know he or she will be very busy with other cabins.

At Port Canaveral, you will be required to get off the ship, go thru Customs, and return immediately to the elevator to take you up to the check in floor. You will have to wait until they "close out" the previous cruise, and then you will check in again. You will be allowed to board before the terminal opens to new passengers (at least most of the time.) One location, usually the Cove Cafe, will be open should you desire any food before the dining room/buffet open. Your time off the ship can be anything from 20-30 minutes to over an hour, depending on stragglers on board, etc.

You will get a letter in your cabin on the last full day giving you all the details. We've done several B2Bs, and each has been slightly different. You may be asked to be off the ship by X time (usually 9 or 9:15) and to disembark on your own. On the other hand, if there are a large number of B2Bs, you may be asked to meet at a particular place and time, and will be escorted off, thru Customs, and back on.

My personal hints--get off about 9:15. That should put you at the end of the disembarkation line and get you thru Customs with no line or delay. Do a late breakfast. If you have early dining, speak with the head server the day before and ask if he can arrange a late breakfast seating for you. If that is impossible, the buffet will be open, but I do appreciate how a sit down will work better for you. Do remember to take all your ID and boarding documents when you disembark. The time between your boarding and opening the ship to new people is an excellent time for photos without any stray people in them. You will have access to your cabin during the "change over" (before cabins open to newbies), but try not to run in and out after boarding starts. That just encourages the newbies to think they can move the barrier and go in. We usually return to our cabin, put our stuff in the safe, and then plan to be "out and about" until 1:30. But again, you will be allowed to return to your cabin whenever you wish.

Does anyone have experience with back-to-back without the same cabin? I know we will have to pack up luggage but will we have to take luggage off?

Thanks!

Not on the Dream, but on our B2B Fantasy cruises (different rooms) we were told to pack our bags and have them ready by 8:00 am on the turn around day.  Our room host was waiting outside the door at 8:00 to take our bags and get them to the next room.

That said, do not pack ID, cruise documents, electronics/jewelry, and something to amuse yourself while off the ship in the terminal.  Time off the ship can be as short at 15 minutes, or as long as 2 hours.

Essentially as above--when changing cabins on DCL, you will need to pack up all your stuff but will not need to take it off the ship.  You WILL need your check in documents (passport, etc) to check in again; do not pack these.  Also, just for safety, keep any medications with you.  The crew will move your packed suitcases to your new room.  You'll get exact instructions the day before.  We've been told to leave the suitcases IN our cabin and on a different cruise to meet our stateroom host at the door and he would take charge of them.  Bottom line--you won't need to drag suitcases around anywhere.
