Yup, he dropped you far short of where the boardwalk is. It's down near the entrance to the airport, past the cemetery and further on down the road...

I have been looking at Google Earth just to get more of an idea where Castro1n2's set up is.

Is it near Eugeny's bar ?

This seems to be near to the airport terminal buildings and not at the end of the runway. Is this the right area?

Yes, the Boardwalk is down near the entrance to the airport. Not St the end of the runway which is near the resort and cemetery area... You can't miss it, right hand side, light purple-ish colored, raised boardwalk with 6 or do bars and restaurants, central seating area, restrooms, etc. Plus the gentleman renting beach chairs and such..

It was a lovely beach and there were accommodations (bathroom and food.) The people at the resort were very helpful in calling a cab for us to get back to the ship. In fact, the couples resort looks quite nice and is adjacent to Vegie beach.

We used our ship towels, so lost nothing and save a few bucks!

Glad you enjoyed, you're earlier post had said you were disappointed and the beach was just OK...not sure what changed between then and now, but glad you enjoyed...

Happy sails..

I said the beach was ok,(not just ok) but the area was disappointing. I have written a few times about our taxi driver dropping us off to early, so technically we were on Vigi beach but NOT on the boardwalk area. There was nobody at our beach and the cemetery was not much to look at!

Hi Castro, My husband and I will be there March 22 so we will miss you but will look for your booth to rent the chairs (white straps, right?). Is it difficult to get a taxi back to the ship? thanks Mary and Bert

Taxis are readily available, or the one who brings you over will return at an agreed upon time if you request it..

Enjoy.

Visited Vigie beach last Saturday. Took a taxi from the ship ($5 per person) and Castro was waiting for us. He showed our name on his notice board and then took us to 2 sunbeds right by the sea. Fabulous beach with very few people, plenty of natural shade from the palms and almond trees. Also a couple of bars with clean toilets. We had a lovely day and Castro then called our taxi from a card the driver had passed to him. Had a fabulous day:)

Thanks for the post. We will be in St. Lucia in December. Did you notice if the surf was rough or calm?

We were at Vigie Beach on Saturday and had a great time.

We decided to walk there and back and this took approx. 30-40 mins and was a straight forward walk, using a basic map from g.earth. Castro is more than willing to sort taxis out if needed.

Ridgerunner - the sea was a bit wavy but didn't stop me going for a swim even though I am not very confident in the water, though this will be different every day.

Castro and his colleagues were very friendly and helpful and we had a choice of sunbeds. The beach was very quiet when we got there - ourselves and another couple at first, then gradually got a bit busier - still not busy though! There was plenty of natural shade and sun umbrellas if you needed one. As promised there was no hassle from vendors on the beach.

There were facilities very nearby where you could use the loo and buy drinks, snacks etc.

This was a very relaxing day for us and we really enjoyed it.

Thanks to Castro for providing a great service and I hope you carry on bringing people to this beautiful spot!!

Castro1n3; We, party of 11, will be visiting your island on November 23rd, Thanksgiving day via Carnival Fascination. Since the cruise has five ports, I hate to carry much cash for ports and casino. Credit card costs 3% extra and 8 years ago, found problems after we arrived home. I was wondering if there would be any vendors at the beach where I could prepay via Paypal , monies that could be used to pay for meal drinks etc? They would have their money in hand 7 months in advance. I realize this is a little odd but makes it easier for me to sit back and relax, not having to worry about money at the end of the day.

Nope, the vendors aren't going to take PayPal payments 7 months in advance for what you may or may not want to eat and drink that day...sorry, just not practical to expect them to change their business habits and model for one person.

You don't have to carry much cash with you on your cruise. You can withdraw onboard as needed either against your onboard account or use the onboard ATM machine to take out some cash...

I think I did not make myself clear. I always look for an excursion or guide that I can prepay way with Paypal ahead of time. We plan around the recommendations of same that have been recommended by other cruisers, Trip Advisor or comments on these boards. This cruise, I have set ups with Bernards in St. Marteens and Fun Tours in St. Thomas so far. In St. Lucia, since it is Thanksgiving, we were looking for a nice quiet beach that we can just relax, eat some lunch and sodas and not worry. That is why I thought a vendor would appreciate payment early, run a tab, and when we get near the dollars paid, let me know so I can decide if we want to stay or go back to the ship. In the states, it is common to set up a tab this way( not usually in advance) and makes it easier. For 11, I would have sent to a reliable vendor, $400 so I do apologize if this is unusual for St. Kitts.

You were clear, and yes it is quite unusual to run a tab in such a way as this in St Lucia - I don't know how it works in St Kitts. Lol.. running a tab is normal here for some places, but paying the vendor months in advance and having them rearrange their accounting practices to accommodate it is unusual here, to say the least. These are quite small vendors, essentially mommas cooking most of their food at home and final prep at the beach stall and such, not long term established larger restauranrs and such...

Perhaps Castro will be back and have some further info, in which case, good luck...

Jackparts :

Maybe consider Spinnaker's at Reduit Beach in Rodney Bay for your plan. They are a full service restaurant, been in business for many years, established company, etc. They may be more able to accommodate such a request...

Is there any good snorkeling at Vigie beach? We went to Jelousy beach once and it was the best snorkeling. We were planning on going on the speed boat snorkel with Spencer Ambrose or Herad. Haven't heard from Herad after 3 tries. Spencer got right back to us. We really like to snorkel, what would be best for us?

No snorkeling at Vigie. And very little in the north at all. Some at Pigeon Island, maybe an hour or so of it.

Otherwise, you'll need to head south.

Ti Kaye has a decent Reef. Their Island Divers has a day package, worth checking into.

Or further south, Anse Chastenet or Jalousie beach again.

Spencer's beach break gives you the most time at Jalousie beach.

Alternatively, maybe a snorkel boat trip. Mystic Man has a three stop snorkel trip. Worth checking out..
