Drop off luggage early

We'll be sailing from Lisbon next June but arriving there a day early. I realize that I can not go to my room early but, on the day we sail, can we drop off our luggage at the ship, do a walking tour, then board the ship in the afternoon? For that matter, can we also complete the embarkation process early? Thanks, Bill

There are always variables that are different at each port. On several different ocassions I have dropped off luggage around noon, completed the paperwork, got my key card, boarded the ship, dropped off my hand luggage to be delivered to my stateroom, then left the ship to wander around the port. However, some ports require you to stay on board the ship after boarding, but you can leave your luggage (not hand luggage), check in, and hold off boarding till later. You may not be sure of your options until you try.

"Early" is problematic. The essential issue is not Azamara, rather local immigration and customs. We have checked in late (8PM) on embarkation day of an overnight stay. Fortunately, immigration officials were still present.

Thanks for your suggestions. The Journey docks the day before we are scheduled to board. So it sounds like we may get lucky and be able to leave our luggage.
