Worth the extra money, or not so much. Real world advice appreciated.
Worth the extra money, or not so much. Real world advice appreciated. It is always personal preference but here is my experience:
Only going to consider the two options the OP has asked about and presented.
Sorry I can't imagine being in what I would consider a walkin closet or small interior bathroom for a week's cruise..or really any length of cruise.
Just my opinion.
It is always personal preference but here is my experience:
For me if it means the difference of being on a cruise or not, than I can go with an inside if that fits better in my overall budget. I think it depends largely on your itinerary and what there might be to "see" while at sea or in port. It also depends on how much time you think you may spend in your cabin. We travel with friends who will not book anything other than a Balcony - they enjoy sitting out there at all times of the day - they just like the sound of the water and the open air. They prefer the solitude of their cabin/balcony while we like to be out and about on the ship enjoying various entertainment and the pools. We have done Inside, OB Ocean View , Ocean View and Balconies all for different reasons.
IMHO a window or balcony is necessary when you are traveling someplace like Alaska or the Panama Canal and there is something to see all the time while spending time in your cabin on sea days and in port. In Hawaii, we had an OB View - the ports are "industrial" and not pretty to look at and we cruised between islands at night so not much to see either. On a 7 day cruise to the Caribbean where you may be in a different port each day - the inside was fine as we spent very little time in our cabin except for sleeping and again you move from port to port in the evening.
So I believe you have to think about where you are going, what is there to see from the window/balcony and how much time you will actually spend in your cabin, VS spending those extra $$ on other things like drink packages, specialty dining, and excursions.
Hope that helps! No matter what category you book, you eat the same food, drink the same beverages, enjoy all the ship has to offer and get the same wonderful treatment from all the staff
