Just off victory. April 26-30. Short review and questions?

U

Another cruise on the victory to key west and cozumel with the kids this time Went pretty well. Great weather too. Took advantage of camp carnival a couple times Kids liked it sometimes others not. They watched the baby gor a few hours too. Also went well and took good care of her .

We had fttf but they boarded so fast once they got started there really wasn't much time between fttf and regular boarding. Right on our heals.

Typing this on my phone btw sosthere may be a few errors .

Boarding went well otherwise. Took about an hour or so Got on board headed to our room Ida had our room ready and cards were ready in the mail slot thing Those who wish to use their sail and sign cards before you get them we were told boarding passes work as well. I think they just need the folio number.

We chose nightly service fir our room He kept it tidy with a new towel animal every night.

After that we went out to lunch. Just buffet this time Kids weren't going excited by burgers or tacos All they wanted was the pool until they discovered the hot tubs If you're a kid that's where the action is I guess

Sail away from Miami was fun as usual Watched from the balcony

I got a few room pictures I'll post later once we upload them from the camera. Stuff like the outlets, etc 2 regular ones on the desk One 240 and 2 USB too. One 120/combo thing in the bathroom Too

We had 6:00 dinner time Don, Merwin, and Eko were our waiters. Very nice to the kids and made sure they always had some sort of food They all loved the baby too. Dinners were good but not spectacular really. Dancing waiters was entertaining enough.

We didn't hang out in serenity so I can't say if Any 19 year olds were present to kick out but there didn't seem to be kids in the rear adult only and tubs though

We both had cheers and used it pretty well for drinks and coffee I hit 15 once and maybe 12 or 13 a couple other times Man that's work though. You gotta keep up . Unless you're sharing but nobody would ever do that I'm sure. It was also nice to not worry about smuggling booze either Heck we brought our 2 bottles of wine and I only got through 1. My favorite was having a few drinks after the kids got to bed and I'd go watch the rock and roll music at the casino Talked with the band and they did a few requests for me so that was cool .

The casino bar was a great place to watch people especially at night. Dudes and ladies really got dressed up a few nights Dress code discussion aside there were some sharp looking guys and a lot of well dressed woman.

Since I mentioned casino for those concerned, the smoke wasn't too awful .reminds me of the old days at the bar anyway .

I think that's all for now . I'll get back to to it later !

Did you mean March 26-30? If so, you can click on the blue exclamation in the upper right of any post and ask the moderators to change the title.

Oh yes . Mind is in April already I guess .

Scattered review here - That's how my head works I guess.

So Guy's and blue iguana. Guys was OK. Went twice.. Wasn't awful .Decent cheese burger . I think it's the toppings bar that gets people excited. Blue iguana was good. Had a burrito one day and a couple tacos another. Pretty tasty. Again nice salsa bar . Good sauce selection

The deli was actually pretty good. I know a lot of people are worried about the pre made sandwiches . There was that but often they were happy to make whatever . Friendly staff . Stopped by pizza pirate once. Just got a pepperoni. Was pretty good..good crust.

The kids overly enjoyed the ice cream machines but they kept them happy . Lol

No reviews on shows this time .Pretty sure we've seen the theatre shows prior so we were OK with that . Would have liked to check out the comedy shows... Next time for sure.

Bar service around the ship was good I didn't get to every one. Lido bars mid and aft were busy at times but not bad especially for spring break. Probably did most of my business at the lido aft bar and the red frog . Really like that red frog ale and the other rum drinks .. Good spot to supervise the kids from while they hung around in the tubs with all the other kids .

Also there were quite a few of the bar staff walking around taking orders .

The pools were nice .Aft pool was closed a more than the others though Like I said they were keeping the kids out . Also they had staff monitoring both pools and tubs Making sure the kids weren't getting too crazy and jumping in etc.

Got outside for movies a couple nights while the kids got one last dip in the tub. They also had popcorn going .

Ship condition was pretty good yet Looks about the same as when we got married on it 10 years ago .I noticed some places that looked corroded out then painted over here and there but I suppose you'll get that on an experienced ship. Otherwise fine.

Ports. Key west, cozumel . Not going to go into it too much. Walked down to southern point then back. Stopped at some shops and looked around .

Wife and I went to Cozumel while the kids were at camp baby too . Went to Port and walked around Stopped for a couple beers and chips and guacamole at Eduardo's Cafe.. Nice little spot next to the dive shop just past the El Cid on the water side. 2 beers each large bowl of guacamole Pico de Gallo and some fairly hot salsa .. Bill came to $15 so we left a $20,thanked the man then headed back to shop. Went and enjoyed some empty ship and had a nice swim got dressed and had a couple drinks and chatted with the lobby bartender. Sports trivia was starting so we moved on.

Drinks! I had my share. For beers I enjoyed some fosters and the red frog ale was smooth and tasty. Side note .. Every body seems ipa crazy, which is fine but remember to enjoy all the beers. I know a few people who say "I only like ipas now" Yes I know they're tasty but spread the love. Or drink it.

The couple I found on board were the sam Adam's rebel ipa and the angel city ipa. I think the Sam was better... The angel city seemed too generic . Guy at the casino bar couldn't find the coney island ipa and instead gave me a coney island hard root beer so what the hell? That was pretty tasty Down it went .

The red frog rum bar has some good drinks The red's remedy was probably my favorite. Wife enjoyed the caribbean colada quite a bit- Basically a Pina colada with banana.

Also tried some various chocolate - tinis. Those were very good as well.

Bar service for the dining room tended to be slow Stop by the atrium bar on the way in.

One more thing to mention . When the guy comes around at dinner offering shots, beware they're selling the shot glass too. So the 2 shots cost us $20. Included the glasses which wasn't mentioned until after we drank the shots.. Gee, thanks guy I guess we have two more to add to the collection. Wasn't even that good of a shot, honestly.

Next - dining room food.

How old was your baby? Wife and I are taking a 9 month old on same cruise in June. Hoping for some feedback on cruising with a baby.

Did you ever do the late night babysitting at Camp Ocean or just the day in Cozumel?

She's 16 months now. Maybe a small toddler .. But still a baby. They were great The staff seemed to enjoy their jobs. We didn't do the late night babysitting but I wouldn't hesitate. For her it was $6.75/hour .

I'm loving your review! I was also on this sailing. This was my 7th time on this ship. I live 30 minutes away from the Port of Miami so I always sail on this ship for shorter cruises. When I went to the deli, I asked the girl that was making the sandwiches if she could make me a tuna on whole wheat bread, and she said no because the sandwiches were pre-made. There was only one other person in line, and she wouldn't make it.

So. Dinner food. Like I said it was OK. Nothing like "wow we get this" more like "oh, yes . .. The peasent menu ..." Lol. It was good just not as we've had before like lobster, the better steaks, things like that. Even the flat iron was a bit ....flat. It's been better too. I tried the sea bass one night. Tasted OK but I didn't love the sauce and I'd prefer with skin off, but it peeled easily. DH and I tried the lasagna the last night. Holy could have been half as much batman. Too large a serving. Half size would have been enough. Tasted good, but was sorta mushy.

The appetizers were good. Got the standards, shrimp cocktail, ceasar and Greek salads. I quite liked the beef barley soup-would have again.

Waiters brought the kids all sorts of stuff . Pizza, chicken nuggets and fries, banana splits and brownies. Always plenty of food.

The last night the waiters sang and danced again and brought out baked Alaska ice cream cake to everybody.

There's probably more I'll remember later. Overall this was a fun trip . 5th time with carnival and second time with victory. As past guests one night they gave us 2 large bottles of water and 2 victory lapel pins . Sorta cool I guess. Ship was nice and clean. The staff seemed upbeat and pleasent. Saw some ship officers around from time to time. Service was good. Bars were good. Food was good. Ports were fun.

Thanks for your review. DH and I will be onboard Victory in 2 weeks. We have fttf. Do you know how soon can you get onboard? Also what happens when you get to 15 drinks when you have the Cheers program? Not that it will happen but want to be prepared. :')

We were on just before 12. Waited maybe an hour in the terminal.

Pretty sure you're cut off after 15. If your s.o. Has cheers you can just "get them a drink" If they're not topped out yet. You didn't hear it here though - don't want to get yelled at by the internet police 😉

I can get to 15 but honestly it's kind of a lot of work. Well, sort of. Remember you can get sodas and coffee bar drinks with it too.

That’s what I was thinking too especially on the first day and the sea day. If you get a specialty coffee or two and a few bottles of water... a couple of mimosas, beers at the pool, wine with dinner... a cocktail or two after dinner... can definitely see how you could get to 15. I mean I am on vacation after all. :');p

i think it was sometime around 11:45 or so. Like I said though, once they started fttf group 1 and 2 came right after...they were moving quick. Our room was ready though, and keys were at the door.

a couple other things I thought of....

Marcel in the candy shop on 5 "cherry on top" was really nice and great helping the kids pick out a bit of candy, so stop by and say hello to her.

we were on 8 aft and there was a slight sewage smell back there every time we left our room, but pretty faint. I know a lot of people get worried about that lol...

the buffet was pretty good. Breakfast eggs were sorta runny. The bacon was never really that good. In the mornings the dessert table is the "express" breakfast sight. has the eggs, sausage, etc....usually shorter lines. Make sure to stop by the coffee shop corner on lido back there by the door to the elevators and see Don. Nice guy.

I sorta wish the salad bar section of the buffet had better selection. besides the greens they really only had like 5 or 6 things to add each time. I really like a good salad bar with a lot of selection, something like you might see at ruby tuesday.

there was a nice looking sushi stand located right by the casino bar. looked good but I didn't get any. Probably should have. Also on lido aft by the pool they have the new seafood shack. Looked good. fried fish and shrimp, etc. Again, I didn't get any, but it looked good. The sushi and seafood shack were extra charge.

Do you remember what time debarkation started for FTTF?

oh, sorry, i see you asked about DEbarkation...lol.

They said to get to the lounge on 3 forward at 7:30. we got there around 7:15, maybe 7:20 and the line was already moving out. typical carnival fashion , those who arrive first get pushed to back to make room and those who arrive bit later usually dob't have to wait so long. People further back were complaining when we split into 2 lines and we were going before them. everybody sorta shrugged and were like "i don't know lady, just doing what they said"....

anyway I think were moving from the theater and off to the terminal by 7:20, and maybe another 20 minutes from there through customs. something like that. pretty speedy and we carried out own luggage out.
