Seaside - YC February 24-March 3, 2018 / Fabulous Cruise

Just back from MSC Seaside last week and was in Orlando this week watching my son play baseball and wanted to say thanks for all those that gave reviews. My first MSC cruise was amazing! My mom and I barely left the YC only to go to port and Butchers Club so only can give my prospective on this part of the ship.

We stayed in 16003 and had Venshu (sp?) for Butler and Jay for room and both were fabulous.

Met butler and attendant within a few minutes of wntering our cabin and asked both for two loungers for our balcony and coffee each night so I can put in fridge for ice coffee in morning. Tipped both for those requests and both appeared back at our cabin under 10 minites with two loungers.

Our butler was like a genie and just magically apeared whenever we walked out of our cabin and gave us a personal escort to Buchers Cut got us a drink and we choose our table bypassing many many people sitting and waiting.

Had lobster at buffet on pool day after served in restaurant with always fish options available.

Arthur was our server we requested him first day and had Oneil at the pool who took care of us every single day whether we were in cabana (rented both sea days) or if he just placed our loungers in shade.

I know we talk about tipping this is who I gave extra:

Wine solminaire

Matri di

Arthur

Two concierges

Butler

Room attendant

Oneil

Bartender at pool

Below got the bulk of the tips and received special mention on the questionnaire we received mid week:

Oneil

Butler

Arthur

Was at the gym every morning by 7 am. By the time I left a couple hours later people were waiting for treadmills and machines. Once I waited for a treadmill and never waited for a rower or other machines. Gym is smaller than appears in pictures but got done what I needed. Also was happy to have shows downloaded to my phone since the treadmills only show pretend scenery on their screens, no TV (which is horrible but that is a very minor inconvenience-only so many times you can watch the Weed channel lol). Gym was crowded first few days. By day three I noticed a difference in less people and our last day (Nassau) it was almost empty lol

Got off the ship twice and other days went to gym, immediately followed by the sauna in spa then back up to YC.

We spent our mornings and early afternoons in spa then to pool in afternoons until about 5-5:30 pm.

Would eat breakfast in YC restaurant or by pool. Lunch always by pool. Dinner always in YC and once in Butchers Cut. Happy I didnt get the trio package we loved Arthur and the service in the YC. We told Arthur we wanted leisurely dinners and ours usually took about 2-2.5 hours. Could have been longer if we wanted. We usually went to dinner between 7:30 pm-8:00 pm.

We have same week booked again next year. Not sure if I would book as a family though. My husband and I would enjoy ourselves but my 20 and 24 year old kids would probably like to stick with RCCL and NCL. We are a family of 19 sailing on Allure in August and my mom said she wishes she could just stay in YC lol

I found a few issues but NOTHING to mention and a few poop smells but honestly I have smelled that on any ship. YC was always clean. We disembarked at 1030 am and although last of YC guests still some getting off from rest of ship.

Lucky to those going on soon!

Enjoy!

Thank you for your review.

Did you go to any shows?

Did you go to the casino?

Was Butcher's Cut the only specialty you went to?

Was it a Black Card choice?

Is 16003 a regular YC balcony? Two loungers can fit??

The only "show" we went to was what we thought was Love and Marriage in Haven but it was really awful and had crew dressed up silly and wasnt like other ships. While we were waiting for the show to start there was ballroom dancing going on which my mom and I enjoyed watching but my dh and oldder kids would not have enjoyed it. We were going to go see Butterfly or whatever its called but it didnt happen. When traveling wigt my family or just my mom sometimes we go to onw show and sometimes dont make it at all.

When Im with my mom and not my family our cruises are a little different and much more relaxing. We did not go to the casino. Well, actually I did on the afternoon of the last sea day to cash out the remaining $77 I had in OBC. It was easy. Thank you to those that explained it to me. I found a machine, registered my card, put $77 on it (my remaining OBC), cashed out and took to the cashier. She congratulated me on my win and off I went.

Yes, Im Platinum on NCL and Diamond on RCCL so now Black on MSC so used our Black dinner. We found the choices fine and ordered four sides knowing we would pay extra but our waiter told us it was a small charge and he wouldnt charge us for the extras. We did give an extra cash tip to him when we were done.

Yes, they stacked the chairs in a corner on the balcony and we had two loungers and the little foot stool. We had enough room. 16003 is a regular YC balcony cabin.

Correct, the TV did not swivel but it was really fine and not as bad as I thought it would be. We could see the TV fine. Yes, thtere was Weed 1 and Weed 2 shows which aired every night lol. Im not a big TV watcher but it would be nice to unwind in cabin before bed with a real show but that is when I would read the paper or rewatch Weed lol

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Interesting about the loungers. I always prefer one or more on a balcony. Would one lounger allow room for both chairs?

Not so sure, maybe. As soon as you get in your cabin take a look and eyeball it. Im on my phone and have pics on my phone and Shutterfly and see the little "Mountain" and "Paperclip". I dont know how to use them to post pictures but if I figure iut Ill try to find the pictures for you.

Thanks for your review!

Thank you. I was a little worried wih all the negative reviews but being in YC was amazing and I would say the service and space is superior to the NCL "Away" ships Haven.

"Congratulations on your win" - that made me laugh out loud. DH did, too, when I read it to him. :D :D :D

LOL this is true. When she said that to me I promise the first thing I thought of is that everyone I encounter is always so nice I do not know where all the negative comments come from but again my time outside the YC was extremely limited to multiple day trips to Venchi, one night in Haven, a quick cash out at casino and a walk around the ship one day lol

Well, I think I can move on from my personal TV drama.;p Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm also feeling real good that you feel the service and space are better then the Haven. I really loved NCL and the Haven the minute I stepped on the line and with the MSC prices-it would be great to have 2 options to my liking!! Getting a bit more excited about this cruise more and more each day.

How did you find the dress code in the YC? I like to call us casual but dressed nicely. Husband in jeans and nice collared shirts, capri pants, nice blouse and dress sandals for me. That fit well in the Haven for dinner. Is it a bit more dressy on the average in the YC??

LOL I understand. My obsession was the gym since didnt hear too much about it your is TV. I get it. You will most certainly be able to see without a problem but the pickings are slim. Im not a CNN girl but if you are you may also be okay lol.

What you describe for dress is absolutely fine. I saw some very dressed and some very underdressed. Im always in the middle. I didnt see any men at night in shorts and a nice shirt but I wasnt looking but if someone had come in dressed like that they would have been dressed better than some of the underdressed at dinner. I could care less how others dress. You ans your dh will be absolutely fine.

We LOVE the Haven. LOVE IT. I have a FCC for the Haven that I need to use but thinking if we dont do NCL next with family of giving to my dd to use with her boyfriend for Haven or regular cabin. If Inuse witth my family great but if not Ill give to my dd. But the next cruise I book for just my dh and I will be Seaside YC.

Enjoy!!!

I can answer that about dress code in the YC , we were on the same cruise as JS and on the last 3 nights there were a couple of guys in shorts, we ate at 6 pm. I totally agree with JS the the service and attention in the JC area is superb !!!!!

Hi. Were you usually in the YC area...pool or lounge? Just asking since I usually saw the same people each day. We really didnt leave the YC area too much. It would be good to pit a face with a name.

YC is a much better product by far IMO given the huge public spaces. Plus I wish Haven would be realistically priced to begin with rather than using the bidding system.

Sooner or later prices will rise as they have done over the rest of MSC cruises over the last two years.

One would think this is bound to happen. These are really good prices.

In theory you would think NCL may come down a little and MSC go up. Who knows-I don't run a cruise ship business-just like to spend my money on them!! :D

I have not yet sailed on MSC but if everyone is right and it is pretty even with NCL-you would think they would have to adjust prices to compete with MSC now that they are starting to home port here in the US more??
