Carnival Triumph Funtimes (New Orleans)

Recommended Posts

I just returned yesterday off the 5 day. If I could answer any questions for you, I would be glad to. I will say that one of our shows was a magician/Vegas style show. Apparently it was a one cruise only. I enjoyed The Big Easy show that was held on our last night. We don't participate in karaoke or trivia, but there did seem to be plenty of that. There was an amazing guitarist named Jerry that played around the ship (lobby, poolside, and outside casino on deck 5) he liked to imitate some of the greats such as willie nelson, George Jones etc. A short Asian man but could play a mean guitar. Also the small band that played outside casino had the crowd on there feet a few times. It rained on our departure day. I was looking forward to watching the banks of the river as we headed out. On our return, I was up early enough to watch the city come into view. I knew that we docked with the starboard side against the dock. There was where I sat and n ed very really saw the skyline. However, with the curves of the river as they are, sit on the port side to see the skyline coming in. If there is anything particular you want to see from the funtimes, let me know. I don't plan to scan and upload them.

Thanks...we will be on her soon. Do you know who the CD was. I heard some one from a prior cruise say he was not visible at all...and no sailaway party?? Also did you have to fill out a form on how many times a day your cabin would be serviced? I haven't cruised in ages so I'm not used to all of the changes.

Thanks again.

Kat - Our room steward approached us first morning and asked if we would like our cabin serviced A.M. or PM. He told us the time frames for each. I chose PM. We would leave for dinner at 6:00 and return sometimes as early as 8 or 9 and the room was always clean and ice left in our small ice chest. The only problem for me was that I would've preferred to have had the ice for a late afternoon/early dinner drink. I suppose I could have asked for just ice in the morning and the room serviced in the afternoon. I had previously read about this, so wasn't surprised by his asking.

The CD was Matey - and he said that was his real name. He was o.k. Not necessarily annoying - but wasn't as visible as I have seen others.

It rained for our sail away - I think they said the party was moved inside. i didn't go. I was on deck most days, either upper lido area or the back. I didn't sense alot of activity, but maybe I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The DJ played some and they did have one of the rotating guitarist play some poolside (at the base of the spiral stairs). Also there was some ice carving.

What I did notice comparing to the Freedom (which I was on in November) and the Magic was a general congestion of people, especially around the lobby bar/promenade area. Especially in the evening lots of people tended to congregate. Oh, and only one buffet line - where as the other two ships had two buffet lines. If you choose to stand in line for an omelette, check the omelette station by the aft pool. It was often open the same time as the other, but not nearly as much of a line.

Thanks for the info Cajun-Crazy! I'm so looking forward to this cruise! Hopefully my hubby will enjoy it too so we can go on another one...he loves the all-inclusive type of vacation and is doing this cruise more for me. :)

We had Matey as an Assistant Cruise Director under Calvyn on the Valor last year. He was not very visible at all and when the hosts needed something from him he disappeared.
