We will be having guests on board Serenity during lunch time, which venue will be the most memorable? Either the Dining Room, Lido or Tastes... for food and for atmosphere? Are savories served during tea, therefore could P.C. also be an option?
Thanks!

Tea in Palm Court will have some savories, but it will not be during lunch time. Tea is served from 330-430pm. If you want to have lunch, better options would be the Lido, Trident or the MDR. Lido is buffet style, Trident is hamburgers, salads, pizza, wraps and the MDR offers table service. Be sure to bring your guests to the Bistro for specialty coffees, pates, cheese, desserts (N/C). The Serenity also has Tastes.
For atmosphere, I'd go with the MDR.

I agree with Paws10. All are nice, but the MDR is the best. I would also make reservations if it is not embarkation day. Some ports are busier than others for guests coming aboard. I just reminded myself to do that.

Another vote for the Crystal,Dining Room - but do check with the Maître d to confirm that dining room is to be open on the day your guests are joining you - occasionally it is closed

If your guests join you for afternoon tea in the Palm Court there will be an additional charge for it - but a visit to Tastes or the Bistro does not incur an additional charge on top of the base visitor beverage charge

Just a reminder if you don’t want to be presented with a slip to sign in front of your guests ensure you ask the maitre d or head waiter to ensure that you are asked to sign the slip when you’re guests aren’t with you - we always do that now as we find it annoying to be asked to do so in front of our guests

Cheri, I am with the others. When we have guests on board we go with the Crystal Dining Room for several reasons including the table service, overall ambience and the overall cuisine. It is relatively quiet during lunch and we find that we can have a leisurely lunch and stay a long time if that is what we all desire.

If you are planning to spend several hours with them then I would tour them around before or after lunch. Time permitting it would be nice to take them to an afternoon tea but I would only do this in addition to having lunch.

Thanks for your replies! The cost for guest lunch service (as of now) is MDR $50.pp, Lido $35.pp and Tastes $35.pp Palm Court is $20.pp in addition to mandatory beverage charge of $20. Any additional thoughts? Happy to incur the cost for a great experience for our guests. Is there usually live music during the afternoon say between 1pm and 6pm?

There is music in the Crystal Cove at 5:15 PM with the pianist playing and the Crystal Quartet (band) playing at 5:15 PM n the Palm Court.
On sea days (which wouldn't be applicable for when your guests are on board) the Crystal Quartet Plays by the Pool area in the early afternoon.

How does this sound... Trident for a quick bite when they first come onboard (between 1pm and 2pm) tour around the ship a bit, bistro for a coffee, walk the promenade, go to palm court for tea (is it worth the additional $20.pp?) have a drink or two in one of the bars with music, one more trip to bistro, time to disembark!

Cheri, it sounds very nice.

While we prefer the dining room there is no right or wrong on this and going to the Avenue Tea would be very nice.

You don't have to make it such a quick bite; sit and enjoy, people watch, have a Ben & Jerry's! I love that you will be able to take them to the Bistro, twice.

I do think tea is worth the cost; it's so classy. Perhaps not quite on a par with the Windsor Court in New Orleans ... but close!

Cheri:

Once on board should you decide to change your plan you can do that too so no worries about that.

It's so nice that you will be able to see your friends and show them the ship.

Enjoy.

Thanks Keith! We may very well add a relaxing meal.

I know Keith! This is an amazing opportunity! We have not cruised with Crystal Cruises yet but I already have a feeling of home. I've been searching for a good fit for us going forward. I love that there is available daytime live music, enrichment activities during the day, shows and live music in the evenings and great dining choices. We are lifetime New Englanders (except one year in TX) having lived in CT, MA, and R.I. (also a vacation condo in V.T.) We will have guests onboard in Boston, Newport and two of our sons in N.Y.C. for a special evening in Umi Uma. This will only happen for this cruise as this is where family and friends are. A few of the ports are in our backyard so we look forward to a relaxing time which is just what my husband David needs! Next time we'll be looking in a different time zone than home

Cheri, so funny. I have one sister-in-law coming on for lunch in Boston, and the other, for dinner in NYC.

I wish my brother were coming on in Newport, but ... well, let's not even go there!

Anyway, I think you are going to love showing off the Serenity, especially if your guests, like ours, have never cruised. I get the bonus of the sisters who adore their little brother, seeing him in one of his favorite hangouts (on a cruise ship -- his other favorite hangout is at home, lol).
