I think I have become spoiled by gimbals and stabilization. Watching videos where the camera is moving and bouncing as the person carrying it walks makes the videos almost unwatchable for me. That's part of the reason I haven't uploaded any videos so far. I can't stand bouncy videos! I am investing in a gimbal and a Rode mic in the beginning of 2018 so hopefully I will put up some decent videos myself.

Looking forward to watch you videos - however it's not only about gimbals and stabilization - also a lot of videos with too fast and unnecessary zooms and pane.

Check out some of my VLOG's with 'hand hold' camera

Could you not use the video editing software to stabilize some of the video. You lose some of the frame, but it does help.

Since posting this thread almost 2 years ago I've continued to watch cruise vlogs and some have went by the wayside and some have started up. Here is my updated

10 Must Watch Cruise Vlogs

Still the most frequent and best in my opinion

This is the only couple I have ever seen that MADE MONEY on a shore trip Great stuff

Step 1. Film yourself doing cruisy things on board random cruise

Step 2. Post "vlog" on YouTube & get subscribers

Step 3. Get discounted cruise fare becasue you are now an "influencer???"

Is that how the new gig economy works?

The majority of this content is terrible. This is the 2018 version of your uncle's 1980 slideshow of his trip to the Bahamas.

You know, everybody gather on the couch, lights go down, turn stereo on for "mood music" and then fire away for 8 trays of bad photos featuring Morty and the gang.

We used to do everything possible to avoid that day, and now we willingly subject ourselves to it on YouTube while putting coin in their pocket.

How do you spell "SUCKERS" again?

I hope these people are turning a profit, because why else would you post these vidoes? Does the whole world really need to know what you ate on the Carnival Whatsit for dinner?

Just know that everytime you hit "subscribe" on one of these things, you just discounted their next trip, not yours.

Creating content certainly isn't easy. The amount of money one makes from these videos is usually a pittance. Google doesn't just start paying you because you throw up a few videos. There are minimum metrics you need to meet before you can even monetize your videos. If someone can make a go of it, more power to them. No one is making you watch.

Step 1. Take time during your vacation to film so that others can enjoy.

Step 2. Post your vlog on YouTube to share with others and hopefully entertain and engage with the online community.

Step 3. Get nothing of value in return except the pleasure of entertaining others.

Is this all I have to do to be creative and share with others?

The majority of this content is creative. This is the 2018 version of your 4 year-old's fashion show in the living room.

You know, everybody gather on the couch, lights go down, turn stereo on for "dramatic effect" and then show off princess dress after princess dress to the glee of close family and friends.

We used to do everything possible to see that fashion show, because it entertained us and now we head to YouTube in search of videos of our other favorite things that bring us joy.

How do you spell "WINNERS" again?

I wish these people were turning a profit, because the amount of time and money spent to produce such videos is worth something. Who doesn't want to enjoy an entertaining video on a cruise ship that you might go on in the future?

Just know that every time you hit "subscribe" on one of these things, you just encouraged someone to continue to create and share their private experiences with the world.

There, fixed it for you ^^^^^

Then that would make it just like your reply

There are PLENTY of places on the internet for you to go cry about things you don't like. Go find another one please.

My thought on the vlogs.

First don’t pay anything! Fund your own vacations. Now this guy below is so professional and informative.

Yes, I am a patron.

They are big Disney fans and are very excited about their 1st Disney Cruise. I didn't found the amount of coverage about the ears to be "infomercial type" as it was a small portion of each 20-40 minute video.

Sea Cruisers remains by top cruise vlog channel by far. No one else is even close on the amount or frequency of the content.

I think people have their monetization concepts all screwed up. So it was OK for Charlie Sheen to make 1.8 for each 20 minute episode of Two and Half Men but someone produces 25 hours of cruise material and they shouldn't get a dime? Do people even fathom the amount of time and effort it takes to produce, edit, and distribute hundreds of hours of high quality video?

One of the reasons the reasons they get to cruise so much is:

1. They are Florida residents and can drive to all the ports

2. One of them is a travel agent

3. They book insides

4. Most of their cruises are not 7 day cruises - The ones that are were priced cheap - Example: Their Fathom cruise was $199-$249 per person for 7 days. They take more 3-5 days cruises

5. They can go last minute

6. They find unsold inventory on theme/group cruises

So in a nutshell: they go on a lot of last minute, short, cheap cruises.

I know this may sound a bit defensive but it just gets me going when people bring up the whole patron thing about them. Do you realize that Matt Hochberg from the RCCL Blog is pulling down over $1700 a month on Patreon and he only does a blog and a weekly audio podcast? (a whole lot less content than what Sea Cruisers puts out)

Why aren't people supposed to get any money for their work? :)

BTW...They are not travel agents. In Florida you have to be licensed. Just saying!

All of the vlogs I posted are 100% free to watch on YouTube.

I like Jim Zim and I subscribe to his channel but he is not a vlogger. Ironically, you mention money because Jim has probably made more off of YouTube than all of the people I listed combined due to him having that water slide video that had over 90 million views.
