ICE BAR on Breakaway!

Just Announced:

Norwegian Breakaway will offer a true Ice Bar on board, which will be kept at 17 degrees Fahrenheit and will feature ice sculptures of the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty and the Chrysler Building to pay homage to New York City, the ship’s year-round homeport. The Ice Bar will also feature New York City-inspired specialty cocktails.

Norwegian Breakaway’s Ice Bar is a unique artic-like frozen chamber, guaranteed to give everyone who enters the ultimate chill. The bar, seating and glasses will all be made entirely from ice. Located on deck eight, the Ice Bar will accommodate approximately 25 guests at a time who will be given hooded coats and gloves to keep warm, since the room’s temperature will not rise above 17 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Ice Bar will feature six New York City-Inspired Specialty Cocktails:

• Spiked Apple Juice: Vodka, sour apple schnapps, melon liqueur and a splash of fresh lemon sour;

• Broadway Dreams: Vodka and ice wine chilled straight;

• Yellow Cab: Vodka, peach schnapps and orange juice;

• Times Square Lights: Citron vodka, blue curacao and fresh lemon sour;

• Central Park: Citron vodka, ice wine, and lemon/lime soda;

• Rock Center: Ice wine, vodka, blue curacao and club soda.

The Ice Bar will also serve two non-alcoholic beverages – the Lady Liberty, made of strawberry puree, pineapple juice and lemon juice, and the Coney Island, with orange juice, vanilla ice cream and milk. All drinks are served in specially-created glasses made entirely of ice.

i go on holidays to escape the cold! i have never gone in winter and sat in my backyard for a drink! doesn't appeal to me at all. do they wash the coats in between uses? ewww.

Saw that earlier today too. I was wondering where the Ice Bar was on Breakaway, good to know that it's back for those that enjoys the one on Epic.

This makes me even more certain that I want to book on this asap!

Interesting that Svedka isn't mentioned with this announcement. Svedka is tied to the Epic ice bar currently.

I was excited when I first read "true ice bar", thinking you could get a wider variety of drinks. That's OK the way it is, and the Breakaway's will be different than what we had on the Epic.

This isn't good or bad news for me. Im not interested in the Ice Bar on the Epic and wont be on the Breakaway either. Its a neat concept, but once it about all I would ever want to go.

Very very very excited. Have always wanted to go to the ice hotels in Sweden but seeing as I am afraid to fly..not gonna happen. Thank you NCL for making this girl's dream a reality!

This ship is so close to the size of the EPIC that the difference is insignificant. And has most of what the EPIC offers but more.

So all in all the EPIC and the Breakaway are virtually the same size but the Breakaway has managed to offer more. The only thing we are missing on the Breakaway is some bowling lanes but we are rallying kevin Sheehan for those now, so hopefully it will be a go soon.

Breakaway Ice Bar is welcome news. Loved the Epic Ice Bar. We stayed over the 45-minute suggested limit, and only left because most of our group was heading out. It was great fun.:cool:

Yes, there is a $20 charge that includes 2 drinks

I'm excited about the ice bar as well, I missed my opportunity to visit one once about 6yrs ago and I am glad for the new chance! Wondering where the bar will be located on the ship? I thought it would be 678 Ocean Place but there doesn't seem to be a spot for it in the deck plans on those decks....

It could be across from Maltings or in the space containing the words describing the cigar room, that space is unmarked as well.
