Aust/NZ Foods Ranked Tops in World

Recommended Posts

From the London/UK Daily Mail earlier this week, they had this headline: Lonely Planet reveals the world's 500 best meals.

Like Tasmanian oysters? Kaikoura crayfish? These highlights about food in Australia and New Zealand include it being among: the top food experiences in the world by the travel experts at Lonely Planet. They come top of a mouth-watering list of the world's best 500 culinary experiences that Lonely Planet has ranked for a new tome titled the Ultimate Eatlist - a foodie bucket-list that takes into account not just the taste, but the atmosphere that dishes are eaten in.

We super loved both the settings in and around these two countries, plus the excellent, tasty foods we enjoyed there. Below are some of the many visuals featured with this story. Brings great memories from visiting there in 2014.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Enjoyed a 14-day, Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Sydney to Auckland adventure, getting a big sampling for the wonders of "down under” before and after this cruise. Go to:

From Australia and New Zealand, below are some of the visuals that Lonely Planet used to illustrate this story. In at seventh place in this book is a sampling of crayfish from the New Zealand coast. The travel experts note that the seafood tastes so good that there is a town named in the Maori tongue after it - Kaikoura, shown in the first picture. Third illustrates that in Australia you can slurp down Tasmanian oysters straight from the ocean. Here is a view over the stunning Wineglass Bay in Freycinet National Park. Finally is a picture from one of the local oyster farms in Tasmania holding classes showing people how to shuck their oysters safely.:

Agree Terry re Lonely Planet's foodies bucket list that takes in to account taste, as well as atmosphere that dishes are eaten in - NZ and Tassie tick both boxes. Great reason to visit!

Appreciate these great, varied and interesting follow-ups and comments. All of these discussions make me hungry and seeking to head back to Australia and New Zealand. But, next on the travel priorities for us will be in mid-November doing a 20-day Athens to Dubai sailing to experience the Holy Lands, Egypt, Middle East, etc., for the first time. Then, next summer, for our first times seeing the Western Canada Rockies, Vancouver, Alaska, etc. Lots to do before heading back down-under. Sorry!! Need to win a big Lottery for more money to explore the world.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

May have to have a gander at them.

They originated in Melbourne Mic, been around for years. . They are a spring roll like Chicko. Also make Puffy Dogs, Dim Sims and a variety of other 'health food.' lol.
