Hi...if you book a back2back cruise and have the same cabin on both cruises do you have to pack up and disembark and then re embark again or can you leave your " stuff" in the cabin and then disembark to re embark or just treat it as another day....just wondering what the procedure is

Plus are there any extra " perks offered. Also wondering if you want coach transfer can you take OBC on one of the cruises and have one coach transfer to cover both cruises outbound & inbound?

Back to backs are great we have done quite a few. If you stay in the same cabin all you need to do is to go to reception and change your cruise card. That is it. If you want to get off you can get off and go into Southampton. However you go off a the crew entrance as you are classed as transit passengers. When you get back on you again use the crew gangway. If you stay on then generally you have the ship to yourself. Little will be open however.

With regard to your second question I do not have an answer as we do not use the coach. We now tend to always take the OBC.

The other great thing is on the last night you go up and down in the life waiting for the question, are you all packed yet? The answer you give is Oh no. We are staying on. :). :). :)

Ah that extremely smug feeling of staying on for another week when everyone else is going home, beautifully articulated by Dai :)

Not a perk as such but you do have the advatage of getting in there quick on the second week to make any booking that have not been done in advance, select dining, spa treatments or wine diners etc. Also to secure any preferred dining arrangements if you can catch the MaitreD they are usually quite accommodating,

Fyi. There is a very slim chance that customs will make you come off for a short period of time at the changeover day (just you, not your baggage etc). They don’t do it often, but they are entitled to do it.

Not with P&O but we were also kicked off the ship and taken to a day hotel with TUI when there was Nora onboard and they wanted to deep clean all the public areas. They transported all the transit passengers and gave us lunch, drinks etc at a different resort so although it was inconvenient I got to see somewhere new. Again a very rare occurrence.

The ships are very quiet in changeover mid morning so it’s a great time to get any pictures you want without people getting in the way.

Have fun.

Many thanks DaiB & Eglesbreck....mmm...think I would enjoy that " smug" feeling....a perk in itself!!

Wasn't sure if I had read that on back2back cruises you received a discount on the second cruise....must have dreamt that one

Sorry, assumed you were already aware of that. From FAQs.

Yes, there is a 10% back to back discount applied to each booking if you book more than one consecutive cruise on the same ship. Applicable to the P&O Cruises Select Fare only. This discount is called a ‘Combination Saver’.

The combination saver does not apply to World Cruises, Classic Southern Hemisphere Journeys, Exotic fly-cruises, 7 night Mediterranean Fly cruises, Arabian Gulf Fly cruises or if one, or both, of the cruises are of 5 nights or less or 40 nights or more in duration. The 10% reduction does not apply to regional flight supplements, premium flight seats or other holiday add-ons. The 10% Combination Saver will apply after the Past Guest Saving (if applicable) has been applied. There may also be certain promotions which would not allow a further "back to back" discount.

July 2017 to March 2019

Take two or more consecutive cruises to enjoy an extended holiday and we will give you a 10% reduction on the combined adult price. This saving does not apply to World Cruises, Classic Southern Hemisphere Journeys, Exotic fly-cruises, 7 night Mediterranean Fly cruises, Arabian Gulf Fly cruises or if one, or both, of the cruises are of 5 nights or less or 40 nights or more in duration. Please note combination saver do not apply when R725 an R801 or R826 and R901 are booked consecutively.”

We’re on our first back to back in June on Ventura and I can’t wait to go up and down in the lift, or maybe spend the evening circulating in the buffet so I can answer the inevitable question as articulated by Dai[emoji4]. I simply can’t wait I’m so excited! Can anyone advise what our best plan for breakfast would be on the changeover day? We’ve never had breakfast on the last day before. This might seem like a minor detail but trust me it all adds to the excitement [emoji3][emoji3]

Hi...I would have breakfast in the MDR....considerably more leisurely than in the buffet. Also I would insist on sharing a table that seats 8/10!!....then you can sit back smugly and " commiserate" with the folks that have to leave the ship.:D

Personally I like to eat in the main restaurant as the buffet is a bit of a bun fight with people falling over rucksacks etc. Breakfast is a bit earlier finish.

Then, depending on the port, weather etc I head off into the town. In can however be nice just to walk around the ship and enjoy having the place almost to yourself once the main disembarkation is finished.

Just a small thing but remember that while you may feel like you are on one long holiday it is actually 2 separate cruises so for example purchase any photos you want from the first one or they will vanish, check the situation re any obc, cash in chips if you use the casino etc.

If doing a B2B or as we are doing this summer a B2B2B and you take part in the trivia quiz, don't tell the entertainment staff and then you sometimes have a better chance of winning second time around as they sometimes use the same quiz as the previous cruise. We won twice last time. Sneaky I know but after all you are on holiday.

Really? Personally I just couldn’t do that.

Thankyou that’s a great idea I’ve never had breakfast in the MDR, sounds like the perfect opportunity.

I don't see how it can be classed as cheating. I am certain there are Millions of cruise passengers around the world who do the quizzes find at some time the same questions as they have heard before. If this is the case then you are saying that the person asking the questions should never ask the same question ever again??? I certainly have and if you do them yourself you will have also I am certain.

At the end of the day it is a bit of fun and all to win a "Gold Sticker"

Yes if you watch enough quizzes on Tv, in the pub or on a ship then you will hear and retain the answers. There is a vast difference between that and participating in the exact same quiz just one week on knowing you have already done 100% of it and know all the answers.

It’s not much fun others participating as they have little to no chance of winning in these circumstances. Just my opinion.

It does however make me feel slightly less thick when on so many ships quizzes people get 100% correct with questions (some of which) I find particularly obscure. Now I understand why.
