Sun in drydock

i have read the Sun is going into drydock in a few days. What can be expected to be refurbished and changed? Is there a website to follow progress?

I asked this question a few months ago - I was hoping one of the "insiders" might have more info than simply "Norwegian Edge enhancements," but I had no luck. Some pre-dry-dock work is creating havoc on the current sailing though! Looks like they are doing some serious rehabbing to the pool deck & promenade deck among other areas.

Most of the edge dry docks are demo all public areas and rebuild. Replace carpets and beds in rooms. Replace decking.

NCL made a video of the Dawn’s dry dock.

We were told they are gutting the ship. All new furniture in state rooms, was told the observation lounge is also going.

The loss of the observation lounge would be sad. The Sun has one of the best observation lounges with the outdoor walkway forward of it.

Any idea what would replace the observation area? I interested in the SA cruise going through the locks. The observation area would have been useful.

That was one of my fears - the observation lounge is one of my favorite things about the ship. They turned a similar area on the Dawn into suites a few years back - I hope that's not the plan. If it becomes another space for everyone to enjoy in a new way, that would be ok.

OH NO! I have 85 people for an M&G in the Observation Deck on the first sea day after the dry dock!!!! I'll contact my Group Coordinator at NCL next week and post back here.

On the other thread about the Sun's construction, it was mentioned that Las Ramblas was going to be turned into a Los Lobos Cantina, like the Dawn. Shame - another area I really liked.

I believe that Moderno is being converted into either Los Lobos or Ocean Blue. The Sports Bar at the aft of the ship may become The Place (new naming for O'Sheehan's).

I guess in two and half weeks all our speculation will end and our questions will be answered!!

Just heard from a Senior staff member on The Sun. According to them the Observation Lounge will become Spinnaker Lounge like on "Jewel Class" ships. They think that the outside deck will be taken out. They did not know for sure. They also did not have any information about the restaurants.

If I hear anything I will post it.

I wish it were possible to be on this cruise. I have to pay medical expenses on 3 surgeries since the end of November.

Will be on her end of May, hope The Place (or whatever i't called) is in place... if not I will still go eat there with the limited "bar" food.

According to NCL website the bar on the Bliss replacing O'Sheehan's is called "The Local" bar and grill.

Now that would work! Dazzles is too small and very dated. Ironically it was the Spinnaker Lounge that was removed on the Dawn to make suites. I hope they keep the deck though.

Las Ramblas is going to be Los Cabos we just got off. Did not hear about the Observation lounge, but there were no officers to be found after 500 passengers held an impromptu meeting about the appalling conditions onboard

My husband joined the ship when she was in Acapulco and is sailing with her up to Victoria, then working on her dry dock.

I don't really know what they are going to do, his work is more behind the scenes electrician-kinda 'stuff'.
