New mattresses today on Quest

On every bed, we were told. Kind of surprising, as the mattresses in our two staterooms were just fine.

Good news for me. Perhaps I won't need to ask for two egg crates on my June Quest b2b.

Standard practice in quality establishments to replace mattresses every 2-3 years. They get a lot of wear and tear and more critically their fire retardance reduces with use.

Nice to know, we are on board next month. How are the pillows?

We found the bed to be very comfortable. The pillows are large and fluffy. I asked for one more and found that to be perfect. The sheets are nice and cool too.

I love the pillows and bedding too. A huge improvement on what they had before Azamara's "reimagining".

No problem at all with the pillows. They are very squishy and comfortable

The mattresses on deck 8 and half of deck 7 are being replaced.

They work by deck so yours may have been done by then. Regardless of whether they have been replaced I have always found the beds fine. I had no issues in October.

The pillows are king-sized and too large for my preference. They take up too much bed real estate. Each cruise I ask repeately for regular-sized pillow. Sometimes they are found, sometimes none available. They need more.

I think pillow comfort is subjective, this is good info. I haven't met a king size pillow that I like! ;p Since we are flying Southwest, We may just bring along our own!

I'm curious to know where to look for the Captain's schedule. If I go to the Azamara site Capt Carl is listed for several cruises on the Quest. Is the Azamara site just not updated?

It's not current. Senior officer rotations have been changing frequently with the addition of Pursuit and are likely not final at this time. Carl has left Quest and will focus on the updating of Pursuit.

I’m curious: In these days of fewer smokers, and no smokers inside the cabins on Azamara, is fire retardance of mattresses as much of an issue as it used to be? In the old days when it was more common to smoke in bed, it was vital of course, but does it still matter as much now?

Fire can happen for many reasons and the furnishings in the rooms are some of the most inflammable materials onboard

Wow...so we will be on Carl's last Quest voyage. So sad, but it feels like it's come full circle. Carl was the Captain on our very first Quest cruise back in 2010. It will definitely be party time next week!
