Viking Spirit and Sun Shipyard Photos

I just found several recent pictures of the Viking Spirit under construction at the Fincatieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy. The Spirit is in the drydock. One picture also shows the Sun is at the adjacent pier where it has been docked since it returned after its initial sea trial in mid-June.

With the embedded link below, you should be able to view the pics, the most recent which are from July 23.

Mark --

There is a syntax error in the link you have given, so the link isn't working.

It should be http://www.shipfriends.gr/forum/gallery/image/69376-viking-spirit_23-07-17_ancona_2jpg/

Otherwise, great pictures; sorry there aren't more.

Any idea when float out is for Spirit? And when they will start building number 6?

I haven't read anything about projected dates for either event. Based on the timing for the Sun, from keel laying to float out (a bit over 8 months), Spirit should touch water sometime in mid- to late-October.

Based on the pics, the bow module for the 7th, 8th and 9th decks hasn't been set in place on the Spirit. There is only one dry dock at Ancona, so keel laying for a future ship (the new Viking lass or that for another customer) won't happen till near the end of the year.

End of next year? I would think sooner than that because they are planning to launch #6 in 2019:

(From the Sky christening press release) The fourth and fifth ships,
Viking Sun
and
Viking Spirit
, are under construction and will be delivered in September 2017 and 2018, respectively. By 2019 Viking will welcome its sixth ship and will become the largest small ship ocean cruise line. Two additional ships are on order for delivery in 2021 and 2022.

Neither link works for me

I've been having connection trouble off and on all day long but the link I gave is the one I used to get to the website. I have had it open in my browser all day long but I did have trouble a little bit ago trying to open the link.

Try copying the link and pasting it into a new tab/window. BTW, use the link that I gave because MT's is definitely not going to work.

Just in case, I'll repeat the link: http://www.shipfriends.gr/forum/gallery/image/69375-viking-spirit_23-06-17_anconajpg/?browse=1

And if all else fails, try again tomorrow.

Works. Can see that the MT's link was inadvertently truncated. Yours is complete.

Sorry, I meant end of this year (2017) for keel laying for the new ship.
