What is the slot package?

It goes on the seapass card. My husband just did it on Silhouette and got $340 credit for $300 charge. I think lower amounts got a reduced percentage.

Thanks for the quick reply. Does anyone who went on a recent Eclipse cruise know if they also offered the Slot package?

They all offer the slot package. The amount of free play you get varies with the amount you invest. $100 up to $500. It is loaded onto you sea pass card. You can get the money back. You have to spend it in play. You will only get your winnings back.

It's a little confusing at first.

If you are going to do it, make sure you will at least play that amount. It's not :free money"

I asked the casino worker to explain it to me because it initially sounded like $10 free play on a $100 investment, but once he gave me the very confusing explanation, I decided it wasn't a good deal for me.

I also had it explained to me on one Cruise, but I really couldn't understand it fully... in the sense of how would it be a good deal for anybody? Can someone really break it down for me?

ok. Let me see if I can explain.

You give the casino $100. They in turn put $110 on your card.

You go to a machine and insert your card.

You can look at your "bank" (your password is your mmdd birth date.

You will see $110 on your card.

You can download the whole amount or as much of this amount that you want.

You choose to download the whole $110.

You start playing.

Say you are playing $1 with each spin.

You spin three times and don't win anything. You have now gambles with $3 out of the $110.

You spin a 4th time and win $15.

Now you decide to cash out.

Even though it looks as though you have $121 worth of credits (110-4 spins=106 + 15 winnings = 121), you will only get $15 on the cashout ticket.

$106 is put back on your card because you haven't gambled with it yet.

You have to wager the entire amount.

So yes, you get an extra $10 worth of play, but you have committed to playing the entire $110.

Well that just sucks unless you are a gambler; which I am not. Enjoy to those that are!

Good explanation. It really is "free money" if you are going to gamble that amount anyway. We did it with $400 ($200 twice) and received and extra $40.

You don't have to lose the whole amount, just gamble the initial $110 in the example above. Any winnings are yours. So if you going to gamble much at all it's a good deal.

Fish Lover, thank you! This is the best explanation I have ever received.

I still don't really see what the benefit is to that free extra $10 since I'm locking in my $100.

Is another way of looking at it, to say, that you would benefit from this system as long as you win more than $110 through your various spins?

I guess I just don't see the benefit of their 10% gift...

well, if you intend to wager at least that amount, then the "free" dollars give you additional opportunities to win.

For example. If I just put $100 into a machine, at $1 a spin..I have 100 chances to win. If I'm having a good night, maybe I can turn that $100 into $500. With this plan I get 110 chances to win. The assumption is that you will not likely quit at the first few wins.

I never do. I know I will at least wager the $110 over the course of the cruise no matter how much I might win or loss when all is done at the end.

So, it's a good deal as long as you don't over estimate how much you are willing to wager over the course of the cruise.

Before I tell my husband about this, may I clarify three points, please?

  1. How can you pay for your initial stake? Cash? Credit Card? OBC?
  2. One post said that you can get your money back but the other explanations sound like you cannot. If you deposit $100, you get $110 on your seapass card, you play $50 and (for any reason) you do not/cannot play the remaining $50. Can you get that money back? When? How?
  3. Do you get any warning when you have reached your limit or do you then start spending against your seapass card? In otherwise, do you have to be proactive in monitoring your spending?

Thanks.

Oh yes! I wasn't thinking over the course of the cruise. I was only thinking about that first spin or two.

So I think this is correct:

  • If I put in $100, get their $10 bonus, and won $200 on my first $1 spin, I would have $309 on the machine ($100+$10-$1+$200), but could only walk away with $200 and leave $109 on the machine if I left after that winning spin.
  • I was thinking of that remaining $109 as 'gone' meaning my $200 win was only $91 real cash....but, I wasn't considering I may have another 9 nights on the cruise to play the remaining $109.

So yes, I guess it comes down to how much you are willing to wager over the course of the cruise whether you win or lose. If you know you'll wager $100, then why not get an extra $10 of theirs to wager with...

Fish Lover, I really appreciate your explanation and time. I really don't know why I had such a hard time grasping this concept!

One more question - does this bonus system concept exist with table games? (e.g. roulette, blackjack).

Thank you to all who posted.

I am on the Solstice and purchased a package. The casino cashier said they don't offer this promotion in Alaska or in the Caribbean. Has anyone been on a Caribbean cruise and got this Slot Package offered to them?

Here is the Promo called "Fantastic Slot Package":

$50 buys you $55

$100 buys you $110

$200 buys you $225

$300 buys you $340

$400 buys you $450

$500 buys you $575.

And no 5% fee if you put it on your sea pass card

Same deal we get in the Caribbean. She wanted to make you feel "special" lol. Seriously, who knows, they change the rules from ship to ship all the time :). I'll test it again in October

We had the deal on Eclipse in January. Sometimes they don't offer it on every day of the cruise. On one cruise we saw it advertised the first day of the cruise at the cage in the Casino. When we tried to buy it they said it wasn't available. We purchased slot play on our card with OBC without the deal. Then 2 days later they offered it.

Lesson learned. We now only load enough for the day using OBC and wait for the package to be offered they buy the amount we want for the rest of the cruise.

Answers for Project_gal

1) You pay with your Sea Pass card. We only use OBCN and have been in a Suite and have never been charged 5%. I don't know if they charge 5% normally for buying slot play to put on the card or not. I don't know for sure about credit card but I'm sure they would let you use cash.

2) It's "use it or lose it" for the amount on your card. Any winnings you take from the machine on the paper bar code ticket and can be cashed out as normal. In your example the $50 left on your card is non-refundable.

3) The agent at the cage "loads" your seapass card (actually the casino account associated with your card) with the desired amount. You then manually transfer part or all of the balance to an individual machine using the little LCD screen on the machine. When you deplete your balance of slot play you would have to return to the cage to "load" more. It will not automatically pull more $$ from you onboard account.

Best thread I've read in a long time. We leave next week, and I was planning on using up my $300 in OBC on the slots anyway and was expecting to suffer the 5% hit for doing so. Now, I can avoid the 5% charge and actually get a bonus $40 in play by purchasing this slot package. Assuming the slots aren't set for lower than an 87% payout (may be a big assumption since they aren't regulated), my expected return may actually be on the positive side.

The casino only offers the slot bonus purchase when the manager feels they need to increase player action. I asked on a cruise, and was told it depended on how much business the casino was doing. If they offer it, and you playa lot, it is a good deal.

They offered it on the Reflection10 day Caribbean cruise in November 2017. It was only offered the first few days of the cruise and was advertised in the Daileys and via the noon time announcements.

I don’t think you need to win $110 for this to be a benefit. The ‘benefit’ is if you play the slots enough to bet whatever you tied up in the Slots Package along with the additional amount they give you, then you are getting the ‘benefit’ of these additional amount of bonus, the extra $10.

If you don’t bet an amount of at least the $110, then you lose whatever you didn’t bet.

Example: If you go with $100, you get $10 plus the $100 on your card. If you then only bet $90 on slots during the cruise, you don’t get your $10 you didn’t use betting plus the $10 bonus they gave you. You only got whatever you won on each shot of the slots. If you bet $111 or more using slots, your $100 plus the $10 bonus is used up. You again get whatever you won on each slot shot. Just like if you bet $100 of personal money without using the Slot package. The $100 is gone and you have whatever you won on the pulls.

It’s not a loss unless you don’t bet the amount you tied up and the bonus they added.

It’s done in a number of Casinos. Not a bad deal for those who enjoy slots and will use, for sure, the amount they committed.

On Equinox in April on Carribean cruise, I had problems.

Went to cashier and asked for $100 to be added to my sea pass and was refused. They told me initially they couldn’t do it because I had no OBC. Then went on to suggest that I played cash in the slots. Crazy thought in what is meant to be a cashless environment.......

Eventually, talked to guest relations desk and got nowhere, so asked for GR director to get involved. A lovely lady called Julie called back and promised to get to the bottom of it. I had a call from Casino manager shortly there after, who resolved the issue. I got no explanation as to why I had been initially refused.

Next night at cashier, I had credit added and my folio was immediately debited, in fact my credit card had the money authorised same day. The cashier did add that she was correct in refusing previous evening and that adding credit to my sea pass was a one off at the direction of the casino manager..........
