Navigation in rental

In europ most rental have build in navigation , is this also in Florida ? From witch categories cars eventually? Thanks

I would say, no, most rental cars in the US don't have GPS. What we typically do is get a car slightly more deluxe than absolutely needed. Increases the chances of it coming with GPS.

I have to say we have very pleasantly surprised with the number of times GPS has been present in cars we have rented in Europe.

IF the rental car doesn't come with navigation, you can usually rent a GPS from the rental car company.

I expect in every car, navigation !

If you have a cell phone, you can always use google maps.:)

funny story

recently visited Tromso Norway which has a very extensive network of road tunnels ... so extensive that there are roundabouts IN the tunnels.

Our colorful tour guide mentioned that most visitors used GPS to navigate the roads .....

and GPS does not work in tunnels

So once a day the police go to the tunnel roundabouts to find the lost folks who just keep going around and around ..... cuz their GPS never tells them to turn!!!!!

I have a cellphone but no provider in de USA !

We use the Here We Go app. You can download the maps you need before leaving home and use your phone as GPS - no data necessary. Works really well.

option 1. Find out price from your provider for Roaming in USA (probably very expensive).

option 2. Buy a USA sim card with data, for your phone when you arrive (Walmart or Publix).

option 3. Try an app like Maps dot me (maps.me). You can download necessary maps before you leave home and use them offline.
