Aurea Private Sundeck

I think that’s fair... well put.

Especially since none of the other areas are specifically for adults only. There’s so much deck space elsewhere, as much as it may not be as easy to get some deck chairs in other places where minors are allowed as hopefully it will be on Top 19, it is what it is. Do what you gotta do to get your deck chairs, get your unlimited drinks with the Aurea package, and make it work. There are SO many places on the ship designed to entertain kids and teens. Let the adults have their one area!

Casino? Isn't that the adult area?

We did a 10 day cruise on the MSC Fantastica - Aurea level - around the Med in Feb/March 2016 and were very impressed with the Top 18 Private Sundeck. 4 adults and our 15 year old daughter.

It had showers, a large hot tub, a bar, lots of sunbeds and massive day beds. We had to show our cruise cards for the first 2 days but then the staff just waved to us. On the first day I "smuggled" our daughter in by ensuring she stayed in the middle of us but she is very tall for her age - much taller then me and my Mum - she was under strict instructions not to do anything that would draw attention to herself and annoy the other cruisers. I need not have worried because there was hardly anyone else up there - I guess that was a combination of the temperature being chilly in the wind, although the sun shone virtually constantly all holiday, and the fact that nearly all the other cruisers were Mediterranean and therefore, hardly likely to be sun worshipping in the winter.

Later in the cruise more and more people started to venture up to the Sundeck but I think they were paying for the one day access pass because we only ever saw them once.

My 14 year old is 6’2”. I could easily sneak him into any adult area. I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t want anyone to mistake him for an adult. I always think “worst case scenario” and then I realize rules are in place for a reason.

To clarify, as we just spent 8 days on the Davina with the Aurea experience, don’t take your kids into the adult areas. It’s the only place for adults only and kids being snuck in was a downer. Some 12 year old girl danced in her bikini for 30 minutes on the raised solarium deck next to a hot tub full of adult men. It was appalling.

As I am considering booking Aurea cabin with two teens I found this thread researching if they could use this area with us. I have called MSC to check and they have advised that my teens are certainly accepted in these areas on all ships now as long as they are quiet and well behaved. Hope this helps anyone else looking for info!

Just a heads up, teens are not allowed in the thermal spa area... I even had the print out from the web site that says they are... the manager called and Said they have changed that policy and have not updated it on the website.... no problem on deck 19... my teen was allowed to get the free massage, with my wife. Setup as a couples massage. on MSC Seaside....

Do you know what the current cut-off age is?

I realise this is an old thread....what are up-to-date experiences with the Aurea sundeck? Is it any good, drinks service provided....particularly interested in Grandiosa or Virtuosa comments.

TIA

🤣 🤣

Sadly, on this occasion, the prices are exorbitant for the UK staycation YC. We plan to return November though for the repositioning cruise to the Caribbean, COVID-19 permitting! 😉

Good to hear from you.

As long as it’s not visiting, or ending at, any US ports.  Have you seen Sidari‘s thread on the subject of flights to the US?  Looks like the US isn’t lifting travel restrictions any time soon.

Indeed, but no it's Barcelona to Martinique.....Seaview, it's going out to do the standard MSC repeat weekly winter itineraries from Martinique, Guadeloupe and fortnightly Barbados embarking also.....doesn't touch the USofA.

Thanks for the alert.

I love Seaview‘s Caribbean itinerary and had considered doing the 14 nighter.   We’re booked on Seashore next March from Miami in an H YIN;  DH wants to forgo it in favour of a RC Caribbean cruise that doesn’t involve US ports,  either, due to the current US travel restrictions.  Aer Lingus is now offering a package deal with cruise, hotel stay and flights from Dublin  to Barbados from November via Manchester.  It’s very tempting but it’s also hard to give up on a YC booking.
