Is this for real?

Recommended Posts

Dh received an email from Casinos at Sea with an offer for a free cruise on an inside cabin. It says to call. We were on NCL in Nov and Dec but he never went into the casino, I did though:D Just wondering if this is for real. I know you have to pay taxes and gratuities from what I can find. Any input from those that have received an offer like this would be great.

Lots of people travel on free cruise certificates. Usually initiated by land based casinos.

You pay a $20 per person per day admin fee plus port taxes for the room. $240 admin fee plus $450ish in port taxes (depending on number and location of ports) for a 7-night cruise.

Onboard you pay your daily gratuities.

We're doing a back to back to Alaska in a couple months with our CAS offer.

The CAS cruise consultants are incredibly helpful. I called them when we first got the offer to ask a LOT of questions. Then hubby and I decided what we wanted to do, and they walked us through the process and answered a lot of questions. So we are going on our bucket list cruise soon!

Also, you qualify for whatever offers are going on at the time. We were able to do the $50 deposit on each cruise, plus had the option of choosing a freebie. We chose the SDP. But could have chosen the drink package, internet, shore excursion. There was a promo (not sure if it's still going) for no taxes or port fees, and if that's still going, if you pick a cruise that qualifies, you'd just have to pay the admin fee. Good luck and have fun choosing!!!

Just to clarify, the admin would be $280 ($20 x 7 nights x 2 passengers). The Port taxes vary by itinerary, but $450 (for two, not each) would likely be at top of the range for a 7 night cruise IMO.

Not really though because anyone who books a cruise has to pay port fees and taxes, so the fee is $280 which you would compare to the cost of the cruise, less the port fees and taxes.

The offers are definitely real, but the house never loses. They only offer these deals to people who are statistically likely to lose/spend more than the cost of the cruise. Take the cruise, but don't play at the casino. You won't get another offer, but that's ok. Next time just pay the cost of the cruise and *still* don't go into the casino. You'll come out ahead!

This is a silly statement. Obviously the OP received the offer because they are a gambler. If they want to play in the casino why tell them not to? I'm gonna gamble whether or not the cruise is comped. So it's a no brained for me to book through CAS. The money I saved on the cruise fare becomes my gambling money.

Nope, my dh is not a gambler. In fact he never goes to the casino is why I was so confused.

Now here is the kicker. When reading the bottom of the email I seen a small line that stated this email is intended for "Blank Blank" and gave a members number,. UMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, that is not my dh's name and not his members number.

So in other words, they sent him an email meant for someone else. The email addy is his and it says dear....(his name) but like I said, at the bottom it says it is for someone else.

NCL has done that before, this other person whenever they have a cruise booked, dh gets all of their emails. I have tried to call and tell them but nothing has ever been done.

So, no free cruise for us. I wonder if I was to call what they would say lol.

Well there you go. A small little detail you left out of your original post. The email has someone else's name and latitudes number as well as you say you have received this other person's email confirmations in the past. It is clear that the email was not meant for you. If you call you would not get the offer as it is tied to the other person's latitude number.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO, I did not leave out a SMALL detail in my original post because the email has my husbands name on it not someone elses. At the bottom of the email in tiny print it says someone else name and number. I can barely read it since and it is the last thing on the page after the terms and conditions. I found it much later after the original post.

I was not trying to leave anything out or deceive anyone as you are accusing.

I would suggest you call the contact in the email to have your husband's name and latitudes number disconnected from whoever that other person is. You want to make sure your husband's latitudes number is corrected so you get credit for any cruises he actually takes. Has he logged into his latitudes account too see he has the correct cruises listed? Could matter in the future for latitudes status.

Wasn't trying to accuse you. Just letting you know that the offer is tied to someone else's account. Plus since you have previously received this other person's confirmations.
