Owner's Suite???

...One last question....would you say that a OS gets a little more attention than staying in a GS? Not a deal breaker, just curious.

The perks for an OS are identical to a GS. I would not expect any more "attention" in the OS.

Looking for input from people who stay in a owner's suite

We always stay in a GS, and like it just fine.

However, on our next cruise, we are tempted to stay in a owner's suite, just for the experience.

People who book these rooms, I need to ask...Why?

Or I should say what do you like about them????

Like I said, I am very tempted....

Thanks for posting this. I've found the responses about both of these cabin types very informative, as we will be in our first OS cabin for our next cruise (in about 10 weeks), followed by one of the new aft GS's on the cruise after that.

We chose the OS because of the great price when we booked. All of the suite prices were good at that time (we paid over $1000 less than today's current JS price on this same cruise), and we wanted to enjoy the oversized balcony. There are two other couples travelling with us that are in smaller cabins, so we hope to use the extra space to do some entertaining.

Good luck with your decision, and enjoy!

The published perks are also identical for the RS, but I suspect the guests in the RS get invited to more Captain's tables than those in a GS.

I thought one extra service for RS guests was that they received a personal escort by the concierge for initial boarding, and when disembarking at the end of the cruise.

As for the Captain's Table, we were in a GS on Freedom and got an invite. I'm not sure how it works for the ships that do still have Captain's Tables, but at that time, the concierge told us that the captain invited only couples, so had we been traveling with more than two in our room we would not have been selected. We did decline, though as we were traveling with my wife's mother in the JS next door, and since she was not invited, we did not want to go without her.

We were invited and went a few years back I believe it was on the freedom. We all met for drinks first then to eat. Got a free picture. We had a great time.we were in just a balcony cabin.

The GS bathroom is kind of a glorified JS bathroom.

Totally disagree with this. The JS bathroom is like a regular stateroom bathroom except a bit longer to fit a bathtub. The GS double sink area looks identical to the OS sink area - the big difference seems to be the shower and tub are separate so a little more room. And of course the bidet. ;)

Yes, I am not sure why foxgoodrich said that the GS bathroom is just a glorified JS bathroom. The GS bathroom easily twice, maybe three time the size of a JS. There is not enough room for two people to both stand in a JS bathroom unless one is in the tub. The GS is a bit nicer, too - more marble and less plastic.

Here are photos of a JS bathroom on FotS (stateroom 1544):

Just did OS on Oasis, brother had a CLS, and we have done GS on Liberty. For the money the GS on the Liberty was great. However, not all GS are created equally.

The OS was beyond fantastic. Probably the only negative is the size of the shower. If you take a good look at the photo you will see that it's pretty small. The living space for two is beyond what anybody really needs in a cabin. The balcony is huge and much better than what I saw on my brother's CLS. The CLS with the two bathrooms seemed pretty handy.

The locations of the CLS were much better for access to the Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen. We had OS 10240 so had a pretty good walk up to the SL and CK.

Since we had a group of 14 on the Oasis our balcony was the place for sail away parties. We even hosted a cocktail party with open bar and served buffet table with plenty of room when we left FLL.

If you can get a good price on the OS I would do it again. We got the OS and CLS for the same price. The GS on Oasis didn't seem as well laid out as on the Liberty. But if there was a huge $$ difference between the OS and GS, I would do the GS again, in a minute. We really enjoyed the perks that went with the full suites. Next cruise might try the CLS just to experience if the price is right.

We were lucky enough to stay in an owners suite on quantum and have to say it was amazing.... It even had a sound box with white noise and thunderstorms and waves crashing to ease you into dreamworld :-) I know that it was a brand new ship and older ships will not have the same layout or decor but we loved the extra space. It definately spoiled us and don't think we would want to book anything but a suite in future. But without a doubt if you get a good deal I would most certainly try it:-)

jamesr, we have OS 11240 on an upcoming cruise, one deck above where you were, and we're planning on a sailaway party as well. We will all have the drink package, but can you share the details of how you arranged your open bar and buffet?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, Guys!

I guess I should have used a different word or defined what I meant by 'glorified!' No argument - the GS bathroom is bigger than the JS. There is probably an additional 6-8 sq ft(??) And it's definitely fancier in terms of the marble/granite plus there's more storage. But the GS fixtures, with the exception of the second sink & vanity storage, are the same as the JS. So I saw the GS bathroom as a bigger fancier (more glorious) version of the JS. The OS bathroom has more 'stuff' with the separate shower and the bidet, also a few more sq ft., and it's even fancier than the GS. (Okay…so maybe I fell in love with the jetted tub…and the bidet.:o)

How about an RS :what:

We had the Royal Suite on our last cruise and we found the perks were the same. We didn't get met on boarding day and never got any invites to the Captains table .But we did have our 16 year old daughter traveling with us so didn't think we would get an invite for dinner.

Lots of things were broken in the suite and we had workmen working in the bathroom for 3 days trying to fix the spa. We had to use either bathroom in my sister cabin or public bathrooms around the ship during the day. Also had workmen trying to fix the piano for 2 days. No one said we are so sorry for any inconvenience. It was our wedding Anniversary and they did give us a cake and set up a some wine and nibbles so we could have some friends and family over for pre dinner drinks.

We booked an OS for our upcoming Mediterranean cruise on Allure. We almost always book suites. This is our first OS. It is just my husband and myself. I wanted a luxury experience. I love the big balcony the OS has on Allure and the spacious bathroom with separate shower. I didn't like climbing in the bathtub in the GS, although not a show stopper. I love the extra space even if just for two.

We loved our Owners Suite experience, but we also had our kids in the inside across the hall, so they practically lived in our stateroom other than to sleep and shower. For two people it would be very spacious and comfortable - it was with 4 who weren't even all there all of the time! We did like the larger couch compared to the GS as we could all comfortably sprawl out.

For three of us we did a GS and it was great, although I did find myself thinking that I much preferred the bathroom layout of the OS.

I'm a pet sitter, and one of my regulars looks a lot like Bella. His name is Wilson and he's a real character.

No way, we had a Westie named Wilson. His AKC name was Baby Wilson because plain old Wilson was taken. He was a silly monkey

Sadly, our Wilson now lives in Charleston, SC and his name is Quin

Have always booked GS but when we booked on Serenade there was some hole in Space-Time or something where OS was literally less than $200 more than GS, so we went for it. While having a separate tub n shower like at home was nice, we tossed around the words "Wretched Excess" quite a bit. It was simply crazy room for just the two of us. We could have packed my freakin Miata.

Fast-forward to the week before we left on Indy. TA called and said for $150 they'd bump us up to an OS. Sure thing.

Point being we just can't justify the gap when you're looking at what the usual "sticker price" is between the two rooms. If there were more than us two, different story. Now if they're tossing us irresistible deals, not gonna say no.

We had a similar thing happen on Brilliance back in January. I check prices daily, and an OS showed up for less than the GS we'd booked, so I grabbed it. That was a nice room.

Does anyone know if the OS on Freedom have a clothesline in the tub area?? We'll be on FOS a couple of weeks. :)

Well. went ahead and changed our next cruise sailing date, and took the plunge for a OS...

We always stay in a GS, and by changing our sailing date 2 weeks with a slightly different itinerary, got a deal that is about the same price we usually pay for a GS...just a few hundred more.

So it's all good, and will do it just for the experience.
