Seas on Mexican Riviera vs Caribbean

Are the seas typically rougher on Mexican Riviera cruises vs Caribbean cruises (in February)?

You just never never know.

Just like the Caribbean the seas could be calm or you could have some sea swells or they could become rough.

The Pacific Ocean can certainly be rougher than the Caribbean.

You cannot tell ahead of time and it shouldn't be a big bother.

DH and I are both prone to seasickness so we take meds to prevent it no matter where we cruise. The meds work great and we are not bothered at all by the changes in the ocean.

As Keith says, you just never no. For example, this has been a pretty stormy year along the Atlantic coast...which really impacts the size of swells (these make the largest ships move) in the Caribbean and Atlantic. Meanwhile on the Pacific Coast (we live in Puerto Vallarta in the winter) the weather has been quite nice with no major storms.

Many folks do not understand that a major storm can result in large swells moving out hundreds (and even thousands) of miles from the storm. And you also need to consider that the Caribbean is more shallow then the Pacific....which can also have an impact on wave height and swells (they generally increase in size in shallow waters). Even the largest ships will move in swells...especially if they are coming at an angle close to the bow. Ship stabilizers do not help much in preventing pitch...although they sure do help with rolling.
