Bonaire

We have been rerouted to Bonaire, what does one do there...:)

It's a rocky, arid little island. We went there in 2016 and did a beach day at a place with a pool and a bar. They did, in fact, have a beach, but there were loungers under some palm trees and then a 5 foot drop to the water. They also had a pool, and we stayed in that for about 2 hours, got our 1 included drink, and went back to the ship.

In other words -- not much to do there.

We did a tour. Didn't pre book. Just found a bus/tour at the port. Can't remember the cost. Saw the salt mountains, slave huts and flamingos! It was interesting, but not a port that I'd be in a rush to go back to! I think we were the lst CCL ship to go there. This was on Liberty a few years ago. Maybe go to the port of call boards and ask there.

Bonaire is a premier dive location, and snorkeling at Little Bonaire reef is a pleasant way to spend a few hours. An excursion or ride on a water taxi can get you there. We sailed on an Asian junk to reach this spot.

Bonaire is very clean and safe. If you snorkel, that is a must.

We did some incredible snorkeling off little bonaire on the samarai sail. Then we later took a tour of north part of island. What a day! Most coral and aquatic wildlife Ive seen since snorkeling in Red Sea off coast of Saudi Arabia when I was a kid. Great town. It's like a little Holland.

We also stopped at a cactus liquor store, wildlife preserve, 99 steps, and a few other places.

Thank you all, just curious what to do and now I have some ideas.

Rent a golf cart.....drive to water....snorkel .....drive to different area....snorkel....and repeat ....over and over!

We ate at Karals beach bar. Wonderful ambiance!

You can take the excursion through Carnival with Sea Cow or you can book direct with them. Hank & Gia were awesome on the Sea Cow. I'm a great swimmer but I get a little anxious when in the middle of the ocean snorkeling. They made me feel so safe and even one of their helpers stayed right beside a lot of the time.....my husband on the other hand We saw a few huge sea turtles some lion fish and a lot of other sea creatures. Afterwards we just strolled the little area by the port and found a little bar with free wifi & some cheap cocktails Enjoy this port it's awesome one of our favorites

We first experienced this little gem back in 1999 before the cruise ships ruined it. It still remains one of our favorite ports.

Snorkel, scuba dive, see the salt flats and flamingoes, windsurf. It's a fun little island.
