Cigar Lounge on NCL Dawn

We are cruising soon on the Norwegian Dawn and noticed they had a cigar lounge. I'm an avid cigar smoker and hoping others are too and have been on the dawn to answer a few questions.

1. Can you bring your own cigars on the boat and smoke them in the lounge?

2. Do they sell any authentic Cuban cigars in the lounge?

Thanks!

The Duty Free Shop on the DAWN would have cigars - of Cuban origin doubtful ?!

The Cigar Lounge on the DAWN is on Deck 6 starboard across from Le Bistro and

adjacent to the Gatsby's Champagne Bar and La Cucina. The Casino is forward

from that point and further to the Stardust Theatre - aft to the Aqua Main Dining Room.

The other public smoking areas are the Casino and on Deck 12 pool deck port side - cigarette smoking only here.

Be careful, they sell a lot of fakes

Exactly that’s why I wanted to do the research. I’m not buying from a vendor off the street. I’d rather bring my own cigars I purchase and know what I’m getting. There has to be a reputable seller on that island I would think.

The only guaranteed reputable sellers will be the authorized Casa Habano. Otherwise, you are buying from a store/vendor who knows he will never see you again. One downside of the ships' cigar lounges is that they never seem to enforce the "cigar only" rules, so a LOT of cigarette smoke most of the time.

Thanks for the info! I will check them out. That stinks about the cigarette smoke.

Seemed like there were more cigarette smokers in there every time I looked in there last week.

BTW as another poster mentioned it is right next to Gatsby's Bar which is a great bar to hang out at after the shows. There is entertainment but you can still have a conversation. Spent a lot of time there.

  • 3 months later...

I smoked cigars at the bar on deck 14 and by the pool on deck 12 as well as in the lounge. I was told by the ships people I could smoke cigars in those areas and others were there as well.

My Dad always bought his Cubans in Hamilton. News store across from the flagpole on Front St. Can't remember the name because I'm old. The drugstore in Dockyard will have some Cubans that are totally the real thing too.

Just got back today. On the way to Clocktower mall there is a hut next to where they sell cool gel candles and is front of former visitor center. Girl working there knew her stuff. Cigars including Cubans which you can bring back on board without smuggling were $8-$30 a piece not including the super high end. Not being an officiendo (read - are tiparillis any good?), bought two for gift. Hubby said I done good 😃. They also sell bermudian cigars. Hope you have a wonderful cruise!

Cigars sold are Dominican, not Cuban
