Oldies Music Cruise (60s-70s). Any in late 2011-early 2012?

Does anyone know of any cruises with bands from the late 60s to early 70s? We went on one through Clear Channel Cruises featuring Three Dog Night, The Association, Gary Lewis and the Playboys and Paul Revere and the Raiders and would love to do something like this again.

We're going on a "Malt Shop" cruise the end of October 2011 sponsered by Jazz Cruises 1-877-700-6258. Pretty pricey, but sounds like lots of fun. 4 nites on Carnivals Inspiration out of Tampa, Fl. Entertainers are Chubby Checker, The Beach Boys, Little Anthony, Lou Christie just to name a few.

This is probably more 50's & 60's if you're interested.

Hi Everyone, I'm thinking on going on the 01/21/2012 --01/28/2012 cruise on the GRAND PRINCESS. A month ago saw 3 of the Monkees in concert. This week I saw the "HAPPY TOGHETHER" concert. Talked to my agent. She says for me to put down my deposit when I'm on the CORAL PRINCESS. I'm a platinum captain circle member. PARIDE55

FYI... Not sure who you booked through, but just booking a room on the Grand Princess for this cruise doesn't get you the entertainment. Princess isn't putting on the oldies cruise. You must book though Concerts at Sea to get the entertainment package. Some TA's may work with them for you, but you can also book direct with them. Do a search for Concerts At Sea to get their website. I'd put it here but we're not supposed to put links on here, I guess.

A 60s - 70s music-themed cruise would be fun. Those were the years I was really into music as a kid and teenager. So, how about a little music trivia?

Which group did the song, In-a-gadda-da-vida? AND tell us one or two things that were really unique about that song at the time?

Who sang, "The Crystal Ship"? Hint: same group that did: "Light My Fire."

What was the name of the lead singer of that group?

Nancy Sinatra put out several hit songs with a man named Lee Hazelwood. One of those was "Jackson." Name two others.

The next one goes wa-a-a-ay back, at least for me. Who sang the song, Running Bear? And, what was that song about?

Who had the hit song, "Blue Velvet"?

Who did...

World Without Love?

Painted Black? (They also did Satisfaction)

My Back Pages (Hint: American group; also did Eight Miles High)

This Diamond Ring (and who is the lead singer's father)?

And the Beat Goes On?

We Gotta Get Outa This Place (hint: also did House of the Rising Sun)

Here are some more to test your memory. (without Googling)

Who did…

· 1-2-3 Red Light?

· Quick Joey Small?

· One (the loneliest number)?

· Sunshine Superman?

· Never My Love?

· Natural Man?

· Navy Blue?

· Classical Gas?

· Patches?

· Pata Pata?

· Wonder Like You? (hint: also did Poor Little Fool & Garden Party)

· The Pusher? (hint: also did Sookie Sookie)

· Rag Doll?

· Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head?

Name a popular song by…

· Rooftop Singers (hint: it was featured in a Tom Hanks movie involving shrimp)

· The Original Caste (hint: the one I’m thinking of tells a story of a people in a valley and on a mountain)

· The Chambers Brothers (hint: according to Einstein, it is not constant)

The T-Bones performed an instrumental that was featured in a Alka-Selter commercial. Name that tune.

Singer, Ray Stevens, was popular for awhile. Can you name a tune of his…

· Involving a monkey and a character who sounded like Tarzan? (a hint is in the question)

· Where he was getting down on the materialistic (upper) middle class working guy?

I am really interested in what is being discussed here now. As for some of the entertainers that have been listed, I have seen several of them close to home in Branson, Missouri.

Someone had mentioned the Malt Shoppe as they were going to do that cruise, but it was expensive. If you did this cruise, were you happy with it, or what were the pros/cons of this cruise?

I would like to do one of these cruises, BUT, I would prefer going through my own TA here at home. If something goes wrong, then they take care of it for me.

Hello, sorry I haven't got back with you sooner.

Sounds like a good one for next year. What is the name of the ship, or how can I get info on this cruise?

Also, you said you talked with "D. Jones." Who is that?

Davy Jones. He unfortunately passed away a few weeks after appearing on the Oldies Cruise.

The ship is the Ruby Princess (@Jan 20, 2013). I will on this cruise. If you figure a way to reach me, I can tell you more about the cruise.

Colleen & Ray
