Carnival Blackjack rules?

Blackjack newbie looking to play on the ship. I have been learning basic strategies, strategies for splitting, double-down, and surrendering. I was wondering what the rules are for Blackjack on Carnival ships? Specifically, do they allow early surrender?

I was just on the Magic a month ago and I think thry do ask it you want surrender if an ace is showing. Never really paid attention since I never take it.

I think you may be referring to "insurance." The dealer will offer insurance against BJ whenever he/she gets an Ace. Surrender is when you forfeit 1/2 of your wager in order to limit your losses.

You can go online and print out a basic play chart....it will tell you the best thing to do in any given circumstance. That way, you're playing to give yourself the best odds.

Good luck!

Yeah, I've memorized the basic play chart and am working on splits and soft hands now. That's why I am curious if Carnival allows "surrender." Do you know?

I just got off the Carnival Valor yesterday. What they had new on this ship is electronic blackjack, two tables. You use your sign and sail card to download credits into the account. I believe the minimum is $20. Since it is electronic you are playing against a computer. Now I think that I tried this game maybe 4 times without a win. Whenever you think you are going to win with a count of 20, the computer will either pull a 5 card count of 21 or have a blackjack. This happens way more frequently than at a regular blackjack game. I didn't see anybody win at this game in 8days and in fact after the first 2 or 3 days I saw very few players at all.

The minimum bet is $5 and they have an optional $1 fun pair bet. A sucker bet if there ever was one.

as you learned, no surrender. I'm a big BJ player and I strongly advise you to learn a little about how to play tournaments and enter. It's a lot of fun. . . and so much is based on luck and strategy. And winning (which I've done twice) is some extra cash in your pocket AND comes with the elusive plastic ship on a stick!

Dicenator- You are incorrect. We DID see people winning on the electronic blackjack tables- when they were running them in the free to play demo mode on embarkation day (while the ship was still in port and the rest of the casino was closed) Of course the rest of the week people only lost money on these machines... I wonder why that is? :)

went on the fantasy last year and they had face up blackjack. you actually see the dealers two cards! i cant remember all the rules but it was an interesting game. blackjack tourneys are always fun and relatively inexpensive. my friend and i qualified easily with a run that i wish was real money. lol pit boss said they were the highest chip totals he had ever seen for a blackjack tournament. sadly that magic didnt translate to the finals.

All continuous shuffle machines. Except for the "Fun 21" tables those are hand shuffled/shoe tables (because they remove all the queens from the decks which would mess up the CSMs.

cool thanks. Think I'll save most of my gambling money for Vegas after the cruise then :)

Hello

I'm selling my ticket (100000 tournament) that I won back in May on the Pride. It is for a the Breeze in Nov which is when I'm getting married on another cruise. So sadly I can not go. If anyone is interested in the ticket send me a PM with fair price. Also keep in mind it expires in October.

Basic Carnival Rules:

Dealer hits soft 17.

Double down on any two cards; soft doubling allowed; double after splits permitted (except aces).

Can resplit any pair except aces up to four hands. Only one card allowed on split aces.

Blackjack pays 3-2.

Insurance on all hands pays 2-1.

No surrender.

Thanks

Hope this applies to RCI cruises.

Not quite.

On all but the $25 minimum tables, player blackjack pays 6 to 5, not 3 to 2. This is a sucker's game - if you bet $10 and get a blackjack, you get paid $12, not $15. Got it?

If you want to gamble on Carnival, play craps - $5 minimum, double odds, a fair game.

If you want to play blackjack, you can't get anywhere near a fair game unless you're prepared to play $25 minimum.

An old thread resurrected! Blackjack is my game of choice and the loss of 3/2 blackjack is a pity. Which I make a point of pointing out on every cruise. Having said that, they will ALWAYS open up a $25 table for you if you ask. Which I do—generally means I play for less time once I hit my win and loss limits. More time for the piano bar[emoji8][emoji8]. And I still love the tournaments.

I am 86 years old, and have been on about 400 + cruises on almost every ship on the seas. just sailed after opening a large line of casino credit on Celebrity Reflection (December 2018). Imagine my horror to find only 3-2 blackjack on one $50 table. along with unusually tight slots. The main reason I go on a cruise is to spend an inordinate amount of time in the casino. NO MORE!  No more cruising. I don't mind bucking the odds in blackjack if they are fair. 6-5 is a sucker's game!!  Even the slot machines which were moderately easy are no so tight I saw NO big pay offs, and I went through a $20 bill like do-doo through a duck It was great fun for over 55 years, but if any casino manager reads this, I am sure I am not the only one. It is well known that cruise ships try to squeeze the last penny from you. While I had a suite and didn't pay for drinks, I saw them even charging for water at the departure gate before going ashore. How stupid do you think we customers are?
