Just want to get a better understanding....if I insert my card and want to play $50 from my credit am I going to be charged every time I advance funds in the machine? Do they expect us just to insert cash?

Yes, every room charge incurs a convenience fee. During the process you will be prompted/reminded.

The machines do take cash.

We always just use cash. We also have a casino card ( you can get one in the casino)instead of using our room key card. That way if we forget to take our card out of the machine ( and yes we have a few times) we are not running around looking for it.

When you are done playing at a machine, CASH OUT. A ticket will print, just like land based casinos.

You may then insert that ticket in another machine or visit the cashier who will give you cash.

If you are going to gamble more than just a little, you should visit the casino desk and get a CAS players card. That way you will accumulate points for play, and your play will be tracked in their system. The points provide benefits when you accrue enough of them, and the play history may (note that's "may") make you eligible for future comped cruises.

What does that even mean, advanced back?

It's technically not correct, or not well said. Your winnings (if any) are not "advances" to you in any way. If you withdraw $100 against your cabin account (paying a 3% fee on that withdrawal), and you finish playing with $150, you then cash out for $150 and either keep the ticket to play again, or exchange it for $150 in cash. You don't put the money back in your on board account (or at least, not until you pay your final bill), so it can't be "advanced" to you in any way.

All advances incur a 3% service charge, whether it is from your credit card or OBC

You only get charged 3% when you take money from your onboard account. Otherwise you can use cash or a ticket from winnings.
