Taxis in Noumea

We are heading to the South Pacific on our next cruise in a few months and trying to figure out the best way to get around Noumea. We are thinking we might go to the aquarium and maybe a beach. Does anyone know if it's easy to get taxis? And roughly what they cost?

Or any other suggestions on what to do and how to get around?

Get the Hop on Hop off bus. They give you a map and you have the freedom to explore as much as you want. Its available from the ferry building and is quite affordable (Price doesn't come immediately to mind).

Remember New Caledonia is a French speaking country and some Taxi drivers only speak French.

There is a taxi rank at the town central square (near the tourist booth) and taxis can be booked by phone.

My plan is to travel like I did in Europe, have every address needed writen in the local language.:)

From the town centre to Marmite et Tire-Bouchon (excellent food btw) was about 15aud.
