Live from Harmony of the Seas B2B2B

Recommended Posts

Hi y’all a little background about us! I am Cheryl 43, DH Robert and I are doing 3 awesome weeks on Harmony. We currently full time in our fifth wheel and have called Texas home most of our lives. The first 2 we will be in JS on deck 7 and week 3 we move to a grand suite on deck 14. Dh uses a mobility scooter to get around and we both love photography. This cruise was originally booked as a b2b as our son wanted to cruise Harmony. We booked the trip last September while we are on board Anthem. Sadly, our son was placed on hospice when we returned from that trip and will spread his ashes on week 3 of this trip. Hope y’all enjoy this and I will try to get pics of the dailies for you and promise lots of great food porn and to try to answer all your questions

Embarkation Day!

As I stated my husband uses an electric scooter for mobility. It helps a lot so those of you that may have a bad back now I’m not talking just a backache but one that with very little effort puts him in bed for more than a week. Well the big twist here is lucky us we went to the Coral castle yesterday and upon getting there found someone had stolen the battery and case from the scooter. We looked for a replacement and ended up having to find a rental scooter which we did through nicevacations4u in Miami. The gentleman was a big help he let me meet him at his warehouse they do ship delivery as well to get the scooter and next week says he will meet us in our stateroom to switch his to ours with it all fixed!!! phew!!!! Just wanted to put him out there in case it helps anyone he is very reasonably priced compared to others I’ve seen. Anyway back to what y’all ads really waiting on the fact that I’m on a really big boat!!!

Embarkation was very smooth. I arranged for a wheelchair taxi to meet us at the hotel. We stayed at Holiday Inn Express-Ft Lauderdale Executive Airport because we had driven in from Texas. Holiday inn express allows you to park free with your room. It was reasonable at $130 a night we felt. We met a few others from the ship there as well. Hotel was really clean and the hot breakfast was wonderful. Taxi arrived promptly at 10:30 as scheduled. After loading the scooter and our bags we were on the road by 10:45. We arrived at the first gate where you show your license to enter into the Port by about 11 or a little after. By 11;40 we had cleared everything and Rob was rolling onto the ship. We really enjoy people watching so instead of fighting the elevator crowds since staterooms are not ready until 1 pm we sat in the Cafe Promenade and grabbed a quick sandwich 🥪. I had the avacado wrap. It was delicious. We headed to the room at just about 1. Ended up being a little after due to people asking directions from the greeter. Lol and she was wrong oops. But alas no stress we are on an amazing boat. We fought our way into our beautiful Jr Suite and were amazed not only are we on this ship but we have 2 things we don’t have at home. 1 a walk in closet 2 a bathtub. Our rv only has a shower.:(. I will enjoy the switch. Then we sat down our camera bags and went to the balcony and I ran back in for my camera as we had little turtles swimming beside the ship. I got some great pics of them we went and took a few pics around the ship and ended up in the Solarium Cafe for a real lunch. We had bbq chicken, pasta with Alfredo sauce and a wonderful pudding cup. After this it was time to find out where muster was and fight the crowd. Back to Park Cafe we went. Rob wanted to hide in the room but alas I had to tell him no. He had been able to sneak and do it on one or 2 previous occasions but he also had him and Alex to worry about getting there this time it was me and I maintained control! Muster really is not much if you are new to cruising just think about the airplane safety video you have to sit through and then add about 30 minutes. But, after that 30 minutes you are free to enjoy vacation at your leisure or as Rob says as his wife tells him to!

We enjoyed sail away on our balcony! We both enjoy photography. Rob shoots with a Nikon D5 and I a more dainty less daunting Nikon d750. Both are amazing cameras and chances are if anyone was sitting at the beach or in their yard by the shore I probably have a pic of you from this afternoon! I like seeing the people watching the ships leave. We had quite the audience therefore, I got quite a few good shots.

We will do more tomorrow as we are on the boat and Rob has finally given in and has fallen asleep we will have dinner by room service this evening and if he wakes in time we have reservations for the fine line. I did grab the cruise compass and will try to upload tonight or tomorrow. And also the show schedule for those waiting. Keep in mind we have to be up early in am as we are in Nassau tomorrow. We have booked the dolphin encounter. Can’t wait to tell y’all all about it tomorrow evening.

One last and very important thing before I bid you all farewell for the evening. I want to say thank you for all the sympathies and well wishes. I wish y’all could have met our Alex he was amazing. Ya I know most mothers feel that way but mine truly was. Alex was born with a congenital heart defect. Drs actually told us to walk away however this amazing boy surpassed the odds time and again. Finally last year we went on Anthem and he told his dad he wanted to book Harmony for this year so it was done he spent nights and days and weeks looking at all Harmony had and told me all he wanted to try. Well shortly after getting home from that trip he sat down with his drs and I and told us he was done his fight was over unless they could fix him permanently he did not want another surgery. They allowed him to go on hospice with the plea that in April of this year he would sit down with them and revisit doing a pacemaker change. He reluctantly agreed and as parents all we could do was support him. We hoped like any parents he would change his mind in the end but they said even if he decided to go ahead in April that we should be good to replace until late summer or early fall so we still had hope. In the end my amazing boy was right on a Wednesday in January he became unresponsive and 2 short days later that Friday evening surrounded by his dad and I and his older brother in a peaceful cabin by the Lake he went home to be with his Savior. His last gift to me was this amazing trip and I will do my best to enjoy it and detail it to y’all as best I can. I guess all that leads to the fact that I was lucky and blessed to be chosen to be Alex’s Mom. Well good night all I’m gonna go enjoy the balcony for a few and see about uploading pics and such to share with y’all night

Who in their right mind would take someone’s battery and case, don’t they realize there is a reason a person needs their scooter? 😡 it is shame there are people like this out there.

Thanks for the report so far, I agree that your son was blessed and so were you and your husband to have each other.

Enjoy every minute of this cruise!

Well all we got up excited to do the dolphins however due to Rob needing the scooter we weren’t able to will try again at another port. Today was Nassau. It was very short so we elected with our change of plans to stay on the ship. We walked around looking at how the ship transformed while we were sleeping! Overnight, Christmas trees appeared. So the question of when will the decorating happen is answered. It’s currently going on. Little by little more and more pretty decorations are appearing. Tonight was the first formal night so we spent quite a bit of time in our cabin relaxing and e plowing what we would like to discuss with the next cruise desk. Recommend if you want to see the shows book early as a lot of them don’t have seats available. I had booked them for week 2 and 3 but this week was booked last minute so many were not available before we left either. We may try the stand by line for Grease this week. We really seem to just be taking it easy this week which is just fine as of right now it’s 745 pm and Rob is already snoring. Sorry not much to report today will write more tomorrow

Where did the OP go? CC is having issues as we all know so I had to find the thread and was surprised how far back it was.

Is there any more posting from HOTS going to happen?

Perhaps they're just enjoying their cruise...? 🙄

Anyway, Here is another review from someone on board this week-
