MSC / Seaside Questions

We have never sailed on MSC but will sail on the Seaside in June. I have a few questions that I hope others can provide some insights.

  1. It seems like you have to use akiosk to register a credit card to your account within the first 48 hours. Does each adult need to do this linking to sail and sign cards to their individual credit cards or does only one adult need to do this for the entire cabin?
  2. Do the children’s cards have any charging privileges or do they need to established separately? If not automatic, how does one provide limited charge privileges for their children?
  3. Where do you get the bracelets forthe children?
  4. Where do you go for the registration/waiver for the slides?
  5. We are in a Fantastica cabin(super family), where do we get the bracelets for the adults and what is the cost?
  6. Does MSC assign a time that you are to arrive at the port or can you show up at any time during the arrival window? We will be taking a hotel shuttle from Fort Lauderdale to the Port and the shuttle times may be limited.
  7. At what time are the cabins normally available on embarkation day?
  8. Does MSC assign debarkation numbers on the Seaside, how smooth is the Debarkation process compared to other experiences? My mother is turning 85 at the end of this cruise and uses a walker/cane (recent back surgery) and I am a little concerned about large pushy crowds or long wait times for her (recent poor experience on Carnival that she would have struggled with had she been with us).
  9. We have a party of 5 for early dining. How likely is it we will be seated with another party? If assigned with another party, how likely is it that you can get a private table?
  10. Reading the luggage information on the MSC web pages, it appears that there are both size and weight limits for checked and carry-on baggage. How strictly enforced are these limits?
  11. I keep reading wonderful things about the pizza. I know there is a charge for the pizza from room service, but is it free in other locations on the ship?
  12. How strictly enforced are the age limits on the slides? My daughter is underage but meets the height requirement. She has been able to use the slides on other lines and will be disappointed if she cannot use the slides on MSC. However, with the water park and other features, I am sure she will be fine either way- just initially disappointed.
  13. Can anyone share details on how the child pull out from dinner works with the kid’s club? It seems they eat with the parents but then staff picks them up for the kid’s club.
  14. Does the kid’s club have any late night activities for children – either free or additional cost? My children have enjoyed and look forward to “owl jams” on Carnival.
  15. Does the Seaside show movies ondeck every evening or just certain days? Also, are the movies shown once or twice each evening?

I apologize for all of the questions. We are new to MSC and are just trying to getup to speed! Thank you in advance for any answers/information.

Can't answer all of your questions, but here goes:

1. You

use a kiosk to register a credit card to your account within the first 48 hours. Deck 5, takes about two minutes. You can use one card for entire cabin or register individual accounts.

2. Don't know.

3.

4.

Don't know.

5.

Don't know where to get them, but they cost $5.

6. MSC does suggest boarding times, however, it seems like you can arrive at your convenience and no-one will challenge you. Boarding is swift and easy.

7. 2:00 PM

8. You are assigned debarkation times but everything moves in an orderly fashion, no pushy crowds or long waits.

9. The table setup is fantastic, chances of getting a private table for your group is much, much higher than winning on the slots.

10. I

t doesn't appear that there are both size and weight limits for checked and carry-on baggage. I've seen people carry enough luggage to go on a world cruise without being challenged.

11.

You read right. I think it's the best on the high seas and I've been on 38 cruises with 8 different cruise lines. You'll find no better and it's free (

except for room service)

in both buffet venues, decks 8 & 16.

12. Don't know.

13.

Don't know.

14. Don't know.

15.

  1. It seems like you have to use akiosk to register a credit card to your account within the first 48 hours. Does each adult need to do this linking to sail and sign cards to their individual credit cards or does only one adult need to do this for the entire cabin? Every passengers account must be linked to a credit card but you can do this for multiple individuals in one cabin. If you have more than one cabin you have to swipe your card twice.
  2. Do the children’s cards have any charging privileges or do they need to established separately? If not automatic, how does one provide limited charge privileges for their children? I think I recall that kids cannot charge their accounts unless a credit is added to it.
  3. We are in a Fantastica cabin(super family), where do we get the bracelets for the adults and what is the cost? Guest Services, I believe. $5
  4. Does MSC assign a time that you are to arrive at the port or can you show up at any time during the arrival window? We will be taking a hotel shuttle from Fort Lauderdale to the Port and the shuttle times may be limited. You'll have an assigned time BUT you can arrive any time. They won't make you wait.
  5. At what time are the cabins normally available on embarkation day? 2pm
  6. Does MSC assign debarkation numbers on the Seaside, how smooth is the Debarkation process compared to other experiences? yes; very smooth and fast. Can be chaotic, if you have trouble hearing the announcements. My mother is turning 85 at the end of this cruise and uses a walker/cane (recent back surgery) and I am a little concerned about large pushy crowds or long wait times for her (recent poor experience on Carnival that she would have struggled with had she been with us). If you ask at the desk where you get your board documents, they may escort you on board with the handicapped passengers.
  7. We have a party of 5 for early dining. How likely is it we will be seated with another party? Very likely. Early dining time is popular and they have 8 person tables, I believe. If assigned with another party, how likely is it that you can get a private table? I recommend you go to the dining room and speak to the Maitre D immediately, put in your request. It doesn't hurt to ask, right? Good luck!
  8. Reading the luggage information on the MSC web pages, it appears that there are both size and weight limits for checked and carry-on baggage. How strictly enforced are these limits? LOL I know a family of 4 who brought 12 suitcases onto the Divina last summer. So.......
  9. I keep reading wonderful things about the pizza. I know there is a charge for the pizza from room service, but is it free in other locations on the ship? The buffet has free pizza.
  10. Does the kid’s club have any late night activities for children – either free or additional cost? My children have enjoyed and look forward to “owl jams” on Carnival. I think that depends on the age of your children. The tween and teen clubs have evening activities like disco etc. Not sure about younger children.
  11. Does the Seaside show movies ondeck every evening or just certain days? Also, are the movies shown once or twice each evening? Not sure. I will review someone's Daily's for you.

3. Childrens bracelets are given to them as soon as they board. You are directed onto the gangway specific for children. They stop you to put them on the children

15. They didn't show a movie every night ... maybe 5 of the 7. Was on the Seaside with my 8 and 10 year old two weeks ago

Most everyone we saw had a private table at our early seating at 5:15 in the Ipanamea Restaurant.

Get bracelets for the waterslides and ziplining at the table set up next to the Slideboarding station in the Jungle Park area. The line gets long quick so get in line early.

The rest of the info answered above by others is right.
