Celebrity questions

Hello,

We never cruised Celebrity and are diamond on RC. We are considering the Edge for next April and have questions as we never been on Celebrity yet, if you can answer them for us it be greatly appreciated!

1- We always dine at specialty restaurants nightly because the MDR is not sufficient to us, can you tell us what your dining is like in the MDR? (consider choice/selection, food overall, service, beverage service in MDR, etc)

2- What is there to eat excluding room service past 11pm?

3- Are specialty coffees included in the premium beverage package?

4- I noticed the Edge will have a few MDR, question, do I choose where to dine nightly or that is assigned?

5- For Anytime dining, what are the hours of the dining room and for those who have had anytime dining did you find that you had to wait a long time to get a table?

6- How are the specialty restaurants, I also noticed that some are a la carte, is there a separate fee to dine here or is there a one cost fee like RC has for their specialty restaurants?

7- Does the casino close anytime between midnight and 3am, we were on Princess and when the casino didn't meet a quota of people they closed the casino as early as 1am, will this happen on Celebrity?

8- Does Celebrity have its own casino program and does anybody know whether they offer comps to those who reach certain amount of points (as RC does), and if so, does anybody know how many points you need to get a comp cruise?

9- We never make breakfast in the MDR due to the fact it closes around 10am, what time does the MDR close on sea and port days for breakfast?

10- We are diamond on RC does that mean we remain to keep our benefits on Celebrity?

11- Do you need to reserve seats for shows?

THANK YOU.

We have been on 1 RCI cruise and 8 Celebrity(X). We think X MDR is better than RCI MDR.

Special coffee included in beverage package. No reservations needed for shows.

We don't gamble and use MDR rather than specialty restaurant. RCI = X Elite, but you must call X.

Hi Cruisegirl6 - Edge won't begin cruises until this December, so we'd be guessing about many of your food related questions. You might take a look at the thread above concerning everything Edge. There are a couple of in-depth discussions about the many food options. Celebrity does have their own casino program - (100% non-smoking casinos). Should be details on Celebrity's website.

Since you are Diamond you will be Elite on Celebrity however it is not automatic. You must either call C&A or Captains Club and get a CC# which then must be associated with your reservation.

Seats do not have to be reserved in theater nor are any taken.

Between 11 - 12:30 or so the pasta station and the pizza station in the buffet are available.

Anytime dining, called Select Dining on X, is open between 5:30-9:30. Occasionally we have had to wait for a table but not more than 10 mins. We eat later 8-8:30. Peak time could have a longer wait. You can make reservations if you want.

The speciality restaurants are 1price except Sushi on 5 which is ala carte pricing. Things could be different on the Edge.

In 20 Celebrity cruises I have rarely seen the casino open past 1am.

1- We always dine at specialty restaurants nightly because the MDR is not sufficient to us, can you tell us what your dining is like in the MDR? (consider choice/selection, food overall, service, beverage service in MDR, etc)

Since Edge will organize dining completely differently than the other ships, no one has an answer for any of these questions yet

2- What is there to eat excluding room service past 11pm?

A couple of stations in the Oceanview Cafe (buffet) stay open until around midnight.

3- Are specialty coffees included in the premium beverage package?

Yes

4- I noticed the Edge will have a few MDR, question, do I choose where to dine nightly or that is assigned?

I believe that you can choose where to eat on a nightly basis -- from among the four MDR's

5- For Anytime dining, what are the hours of the dining room and for those who have had anytime dining did you find that you had to wait a long time to get a table?

I don't thing that experiences on the M and S class ships will necessarily transfer to the Edge. This is a whole new ball game, so to speak

6- How are the specialty restaurants, I also noticed that some are a la carte, is there a separate fee to dine here or is there a one cost fee like RC has for their specialty restaurants?

The specialties each have their own fee. There are also packages for 3 dinners, 5 dinners, etc.

7- Does the casino close anytime between midnight and 3am, we were on Princess and when the casino didn't meet a quota of people they closed the casino as early as 1am, will this happen on Celebrity?y

That's not unusual. They do close when the number of people drops.

8- Does Celebrity have its own casino program and does anybody know whether they offer comps to those who reach certain amount of points (as RC does), and if so, does anybody know how many points you need to get a comp cruise?

Blue Chip Club is it name. There's a special FAQ about Blue Chip on the Celebrity website with all details

9- We never make breakfast in the MDR due to the fact it closes around 10am, what time does the MDR close on sea and port days for breakfast?

Usually around 10

10- We are diamond on RC does that mean we remain to keep our benefits on Celebrity?

You need to register with Celebrity -- call Captain's Club and give them your C&A number and you will be enrolled at the Elite level. You will have zero points, but will remain at the Elite level until you earn enough points on Celebrity to go to Elite plus

11- Do you need to reserve seats for shows?

No

Cruisegirl6...there is no dedicated Elite Lounge for the evening HHs like on RC ships. The Elite and above HH is only 2 hours. 5:PM to 7:PM. The Elite and above HH isn't held on the first evening of the cruise or during the Senior Officers party later on in the cruise. It will be listed on your Elite perks paper work that's in your cabin. Unless there is a lot of Elite and above cruisers there are no drinks preloaded on your Seapass card like RC. Hors d'oeuvre are brought around by servers and not offered buffet style like on RC during the Elite and above HH.

Truly appreciate all of your answers and. help. We get the drink package so don't need drinks in the lounge, just was curious what the differences are between RC and Celebrity but with all your help we have a better understanding of the differences.

You're welcome. We also get the BP but enjoy going to the lounge for the HH in the evening before eating. Another good thing (IMO) about Celebrity is smoking is not allowed anywhere inside their ships.

Wife and I are on Edge in January, I am guessing the first few months the food and service will be good. They very often transfer their best people to a new ship. Probably last until the Beyond launches.

I know you have the drink package but the cocktail parties are a nice way to meet new people. There is a nice continental breakfast in the morning.

Also, we don’t know what is happening with the cocktail party. The room they usually hold it in will not exist on Edge.

There will be a letter in your room explaining everything the CC will do during the week with times and places.

You are given a max credit for Sushi on 5 , about $40 per person
