Southern Alps

We will be in Christchurch for one day on Viking Ocean Ship on Saturday, February 3. the ship has an excursion to the "Southern Alps" which promise beautiful visits and stunning lakes unfortunately it is SOLD OUT....I have been unsuccessful in locating a tour guide for a private excursion.

Any suggestions?

I recently booked a private charter with Tour South Limited from Akaroa; they were $690 NZ for 6+ hours return to Akaroa in a van that can take 6 pax - they will apparently take you anywhere you want to go although we chose one of the standard options. We've not tried them yet and so can't comment on how good they are.

For Christchurch your ship will either anchor at Akaroa (tender port) or at Lyttelton.

According to the itinerary ,your ship will be at Lyttleton. Not being a mega ship it can berth at one of the smaller wharves..

thanks, David ...I called Viking and they were going to get back with me.. to confirm Lyttleton.

Ask the tour guide you choose to collect you from the ship at Lyttelton.
