Does this mean that someone comes around and asks you if you'd like sorbet or is more like a self-service ice cream machine? Either way, sounds great, just curious as to what it is all about. Let me know! Thanks~

It's called the Parade of Sorbet and it is all of the servers from the restaurant, with white gloves and trays full of little paper cups of the sorbet flavor of the day. They do a little parade around the pool to music and much applause after which they serve the sorbet. Usually happens around 2:30 on every sea day.

Does this happen on Alaskan cruises as well?

We had the sorbet served in lemon or orange shells on the Celebrity cruises we have been on. And we have never had to tackle a waiter to get some. They always made sure that all around the pool were served.

But, do they serve sorbet poolside on Alaskan cruises?

Was on the Southbound Summit last August. Was busy during port days with excursions. On seas days, it was kind of windy and few people in the pool. We did get split pea soup in a hollowed out roll while viewing Hubbard Glacier. Yummy! Upon returning to the ship at each port, we were greeted near the gangway with hot chocolate. Hope this helps.

Well, can't say I cry, but I do get into the clapping to show my appreciation of the hard work they do and I do enjoy the sorbet almost as much as the icy cold towels! Those are two of the extras I LOVE about X!

On our recent 14 day cruise, we only got sorbet twice and cold towels by the pool once - but I think that was our fault as we usually were on the deck above the pool.

We never saw the cold towels upon return to ship - I thought maybe that treat was reserved for folks returning from a ship's sponsored tour, is this the case?

We did enjoy the glass of champagne at embarkation and the escort to our cabin - very nice touch.

I didn't cry at the sorbet but I understand the feeling. Years ago, when we sailed on several Carnival cruises, on the last night before returning to home, the waiters all do their best to sing God Bless America and they parade around the dining room with the American flag and I cry everytime!!

I did not see this on our Alaskan X cruise, but they did serve sorbet 2 or 3 nights in the dining room as an intermezzo (spelling?) and it was fantastic.

We got cold towels while in line for the tender on the return from Cozumel. Nice touch!!!

Can't say I cry at the's just SORBET after all...but I do wave and clap and cheer on the waiters for all their hard work on the cruise. It IS a nice touch!

On our Constellation Baltic cruise last summer, on sea days at the pool we got "Chocolate Mousse on Parade" - waiters all dressed up, marched in to a trumpet fanfare, carrying silver trays with small cups of yummy chocolate mousse. I didn't cry - I laughed hysterically. For some reason the entire spectacle tickled my funny bone.

And I loved the mousse!

Happy sailing.
