Booking Princess Onboard

Yes, you can book a future cruise on board OR just purchase credits toward a future cruise if you don't have something particular in mind right now. We usually purchase future credits but this time (just got off Coral yesterday) we knew we wanted to do a Pacific Coastal next year so we booked that. They are currently running a promotion that gives you prepaid tips, OBC, and I believe internet time included so we were able to take advantage of that, and we saved a further 15% off the cost as we are elite now. Totally worth it for us (and we still have the option to transfer to a TA now that we're home and potentially get even more OBC from them).

One advantage to booking on board is that you can lock in your cabin selection earlier. You can then transfer it to your TA when you get home for a better price.

Locking in a cabin early isn't always a big advantage but if a popular cruise is released for booking while you're on the ship, it can be.

IIRC the best cabins for long voyages around South America go quickly and full-suites on most cruises get booked early as well.

We booked two cruises on the Ruby while on board. I got a casino special with extra cash, which I used in March. And we booked the 3-fer cruise as our Halloween cruise. We got our favorite cabins, and even got OBC (early booking and through the sale). We just did the research on board and spoke to the future cruise hostess. Easy peasy

You do not have to book onboard to get that OBC.

Just buy future cruise deposits while on board and book when you are home, same OBC but also get cheaper price usually through a decent travel agent.

Of course! I was responding to someone who said they never got OBC for booking FCC's.

In our experience, booking onboard is very popular even tho there is no extra financial reward for doing so. As others have noted, using a FCD after a cruise results in the same credit.

However, as I said, booking onboard is very popular...and so we will never do it...because I will not sit around for 2 hours waiting for the attendant to be available to book my cruise. Not only that, but I have heard the attendant, who is being paid to help passengers with bookings, give off-the-charts wrong information to unsuspecting passengers.

I fill out the form and drop it in the box, then check to see that my latest FCD's are in place.

You can't book FCC, you can buy a FCD Future Cruise Deposit against an unspecified future cruise, but an FCC is a Future Cruise Credit which is what you get from Princess as a refund in certain circumstances.

Certain circumstances may include a cancellation under an insurance plan, or when a cruise has gone seriously wrong.

I know Princess themselves have referred to a FCD as an FCC sometimes. Just shows how confused they can be, and how wrong on occasions.

Its confusing for everybody, and like many things if its repeated often enough some folk believe it to be true.

Very occasionally I have been offered a B2B on board to follow the cruise I was on, at a cheap rate. Guess they had a lot of late notice cancellations.

And last year there was a promotion to book on board where ON CERTAIN SPECIFIED CRUISES ONLY you got double FCD OBC.

Other than that I have never found it worth booking on board. Never an incentive I couldn't get at home.
