Legend of the Seas SEAsia cruise specials

Recommended Posts

Great discounts on Legend of the Seas South Asia cruises, at the moment.

However, on closer inspection, most are cruises of short duration, as well as only have a short time in some ports of call of interest.

Who makes these decision to visit ports of call for only a short time? Surely it would be better to have less ports of call on short cruises, but have a decent amount of time in limited ports of call.

Then those cruises could be combined with a pre/post visit to Singapore.

1st April 2011

Dear Travel Partner,

I am writing to provide you with an important update regarding your clients booked on

upcoming cruises on Legend of the Seas.

Due to the recent natural disasters and the current situation in Japan Royal Caribbean

International has made the difficult decision to cancel all calls into Japan from 23rd April

until 16th July. Legend of the Seas will now be based out of Singapore from the 30th April

until the 4th June in place of Yokohama, before relocating to Hong Kong from 26th June

2011 until 23rd July 2011, where she will travel to Tianjin and continue as originally

planned.

A summary of the new itineraries is copied below for your reference; these will be

available to book shortly.

Guests who are booked on the affected cruises will receive Future Cruise Certificates

equal to 10% of their current cruise fare.

• They may transfer to any other ship and sail date, including the newly created

itineraries and have the 10% Future Cruise Certificate applied to their new

booking.

• Alternatively, they may cancel with a full refund and receive the 10% Future

Cruise Certificate to use for a later sailing

A full refund for amounts paid will be processed to the original form of payment if

guests choose to cancel. Travel Agency commission will not be protected.

Any guest who incurs a fee due to the change in their airline reservations will be

reimbursed up to $150 per person for domestic flights and $200 per person for

international flights. Guests will need to provide evidence that they have incurred a fee

due to this change in order to be eligible for reimbursement. This offer applies to guests

transferring as well as guests canceling.

They are very short cruises.

Wonder if they are aimed at the local Asian gambling market?

It would be a long way to fly ,for just a few days.

Yes, you are probably right, David.

I thought they might be a nice add on to a Singapore visit. I have always wanted to visit Malacca, because my husband spoke highly of it, after serving in National Service there, but I want to visit for longer than "10 minutes"!

If you were already in Singapore, they could be a great add on for a few days, but I was meaning flying there just for the cruise.

When we went to Singapore to join Diamond , we looked at one of those short cruises, rather than a hotel stay, but ended up opting for the hotel.

We have done a few cruises out of Singapore on the Legend.

Firstly it is a lovely ship, the staff are great.

We had the same reservations re the cruise being one where gambling is the main thing.

The experience we had was not one of a gambling cruise, there were no groups of male cruisers only families and couples.

The typical demographic on the cruises we were on was mainly Asian, (mostly Singaporean who are very nice people) and there were quite a few British and around 400 Aussies.

The casinos were full every night though but this was great for people like ourselves that do not gamble.

The ship never seemed crowded and there was always room to be found on deck for a quiet read or whatever.

I think with the advent of the two casinos now in Singapore there is little need for the gambling cruises for the Asian contingent from countries like China, Korea and Japan.

For us, living in Perth, a cruise out of Singapore on a fantastic ship like the Legend is preferable and more affordable than flying to Sydney and cruising P&O.

We had a suite on the Legend a couple of times for what we would have paid for an outside cabin on P&O.
