What Dudes/Guys Should Bring on a CRUISE

Guys, this is for you, WHAT guys need to bring to wear/do on your cruise

Bring along:

1 or two dark suits, with crisp, non-wrinkled shirts to accompany them, along with 2-4 powerful, yet romantic ties. Don't forget cuff links, and super shiny shoes!

2-5 dress shirts, to be wore at dinner, or meeting up with friends at a bar or private event.

2-4 dancing/casual/casino shirts, you know the type, something that says/shows off your build, and it fancy, yet casual and usually wore to a nice party or event

1-2 jackets, one dark and very nice fitting, and 1 lighter brown or crème colored.

Dress socks at least 6 pair and 3-5 pairs of sport/casual socks.

Cologne or body spray, I bought a $1.50 small bottle/travel size of dudes body scent called AXE Phoenix (Target in the travel section) and it lasted the whole cruise. Used it before dinners, after swimming, after showering, very nice smell and my wife was a bit more attracted to me wearing it--grrrrrrrr! Otherwise, you can be a cheapie, and stop by the gift shops and spruce up with free sprays of any scent(although I have heard that they put the old' alcohol smelling stuff on the counter for guys to test) so bring a small bottle of something and wrap it well and triple Ziploc bag it for safety from breaking-it happens.)

Also that soap on the Westerdam in the bathroom is slippery and wonderful--I never needed to use shaving cream-it worked better than shaving cream and it also was little harder to rinse off-but also left my skin smooth and aloe feeling fresh!

7-8 pairs of underwear…..tight fitting briefs for dress up events, and droopy boxers for less casual events like in the casino. Remember you can get away with free balling in the Caribbean, and don’t wear underwear swimming.

1-3 pairs of tight, nice fitting swim trunks, Old Navy and Target has some great ones for $15 bucks. or you can wear those droopy long board shorts, but keep them up.

2-5 t-shirts or logo shirts/sport shirts to workout in, put on after swimming, or wearing ashore until you strip down to show off your hot build to your loved ones.

1-3 pairs of shorts, include in a pair of workout shorts, casual beach shorts and a pair for attending private events with friends like playing bridge or meeting at a daytime bar for a beer.

1-3 hats, they blow off those windy ships, so be aware, common ones include Panama Jack hats, baseball caps, and Gilligan hats.

1 light jacket for wrapping around your sweetheart. and for those chilly bingo, dinner show rooms-or early morning/late evening walks.

1-2 pairs of hot sunglasses, one fun, one serious.

Something sexy underwear wise to wear for your loved one, you know you buy them lingerie, well bring those Homer Simpson or Valentine red satin sexy tight boxers with you to wear on those romantic times!

also some guys bring fancy sweaters to wear out, good idea and polo shirts with the collars DOWN rule, don't wear polos with the collars UP, YUCK! nothing says, frat boy than upturned polo shirt collars.

Also, if you got a hair back, get it waxed or have your loved one nair it for you the day before you leave. You will feel like a new man with a smooth back and your guests will appreciate checking you out hairless in your back!

Cut your nails, or get a manicure. Also get a haircut the week before you go, nothing too short, yet something you can style your hair differently with, and bring that hair products with to style your hair.

Also, if you are like me and sport a hairy chest, trim it down, not too far, but just enough to make it trim and sexy for your loved one.

Those nights and days at sea are going to improve your love life and romance is always in the air at sea….be ready the mood of love is heavy in the air on a cruise ship and things work better at sea, with all of your problems left behind you! Have a great cruise.

Shawn from Chicago :D

2 shirts - (Plenty of Fabreze or deodorant in case you decide to try a gentle game of basketball, 20 yrs after your last exercise)

1 pair of zip-off trousers - (Double up as shorts during the day...bottoms can be used as a towel by the pool)

2 pair underpants - (1 one can be used as very stylish speedo's...its also good to have a spare pair in case the food disagrees with you, mind you if you have an iron constitution just take the clean pair home and straight back in the drawer)

NO SOCKS - (Not attractive with sandals unless you put a hanky on your head and on formal nights you can look 80s Miami Vice style coooool!)

1 Handkerchief - (This of course doubles up as an effective flannel...not so effective if you've already filled it with a heavy cold!)

And dont forget a box of balloons!...Single Mum. cute child, hand over balloon, you're in...and of course if things go very well the balloon doubles up as an effective `child stopper`!!!

Always plan well ahead gentlemen and this could be the greatest adventure of your life! :D :D :D

to the first poster:

 if i have to bring all that, then i guess i won't be going because i don't own a suit, only one coat with matching pants (for the occasional funeral), no ties, no shiny shoes, no cuff links, won't be going to a bar (don't drink), don't dance, don't wear breifs nor boxers, only own one pair of swim trunks, don't know how to play bridge and don't want to, don't own a hat of any kind, and don't own a single sweater.

to the last poster:

 that sounds pretty nasty to me. i may not own a lot of clothes but i will bring at least one whole outfit per day.

Down, boys!!!

Personally, I guess I'd rather be with Mr. Loose and Lovin It than Mr. I Look Better Than My Spouse but I believe that there was a whole lot of tongue-in-cheek from both...well, maybe more from Mr Loose;) .

Both posts had their place, but getting hot about either is sort of defeating the purpose of a vacation, no?

Hope you both are on the Truimph leaving the 2nd!

You are both too dear to be believed!!!

Chris

Sounds to me like the thread starter was not responding to a genuine question but had his hormones in high gear. And I'm a guy. This fellow seems to want to be a Second City "Wild and Crazy guy" for those who know what I mean. Never encountered a rude person in past six cruises, glad I'm on Radisson for the seventh.... Hope the fellow is on the Titanic, Mauro Castle or the Achille Lauro. Barring that NCL, the older Carnival Ships (the Legend was fine I may add),or perhaps the Regal Empress would appeal to this clientele.

Dude would not last an hour in the Big Apple.

Must be a full moon out there!

I'll sub the suits with a Tux & a Dinner Jacket on a longer cruise, formal shoes and accessories (the wife loves to dance).

Vented hat with a draw string for the shore excursions

Also throw in some water or surf shoes, and the quick dry pocketed shorts and shirts.

Holy cow! The original poster packs like a girl. I'm sorry, but damn that's a lotta stuff. All well thought out and reasoned, but that's a lotta stuff.

I tend to pack light. It's vacation and the room's tiny. The little woman's gonna be packing enough stuff as it is. Unless I'm going to Alaska, I'm bringing shorts to wear. Swim trunks (especially the board shorts) can double as casual wear. Short sleeve shirts fold smaller than long sleeve ones. One dark suit (black usually) is fine. Just change it up by bringing more than one dres shirt and tie. A handkerchief can change the look even more. If you wear sandals, you don't need as many socks.

I've never been on a cruise and will finally be at sea on 5-8, but if I bring all that stuff then I know I won't be going because I have a little corner in one of the three suitcases the wife and I own and her "more important" stuff will take up the rest.

7 black HD t-shirts, some with sleeves and some without. (you will want the sleeveless ones for beach / scuba / pool area etc.)

5 pair gym type shorts, perhaps 2 or 3 pair of dressier shorts.

4 polo type shirts. These will be worn for dinner. After dinner you can go back to your t-shirts.

4 pair slacks, like the polo shirts these would be for dinner only. As mentioned coller down. There is nothing more sad than a 40yr old with an IZOD shirt with the color up. This is not 1983 anymore!

2 pair tennis shoes. One for walking around the ship, the other for shore excursions.

7pr tube socks, 2pr dress socks. Socks should be required--men look like geeks running around with loafers with no socks.

1 suit for formal night.

pony tail holder--isn't hair gel for women?

sun screen to cover tattoo's they can get damaged in direct sunlight.

hmmm... I don't know what the rest of you are snarking at - sounds like a man who knows how to dress to look nice. Okay, it was hard to read such a small type, but really, sounds reasonable....

Not everyone wants to dress down on vacation - I love having a chance to pull out my finery - particularly if I'm with a guy who appreciates it and wants to look good too.

Me? I'm wondering whan I can get out to Chicago and if I'd be cradle-robbing!

What self respecting cruise veteran could go on a cruise without at least 3 hawaiian shirts? I didn't think they would let you on the ship if you didn't wear one through embarkation!

As a 27 year-old married guy I don't see much wrong with the list from the OP. My list will be pretty similar. Nothing wrong with wanting to look your best!

I would add:

Ear Plugs

Small Pepto Bismol

Band Aids

Q-tips

Nail clippers (I cut mine every 3-4 days)

Sunscreen & aloe lotion

My husband would never pack/wear as much stuff as the OP. Actually, he wouldn't cruise if he had to dress up that much ;) :D. I have to pack his stuff for him. If he was in charge, it would all fit in a gym bag. Every guy feels comfortable with their own style- I like my casual guy.:)

I especially liked the comment about the $1.50 AXE body spray, or you can be cheap and use the cologne samples in the gift shops. P U

While I have to agree with some of the clothing choices, I was hysterical laughing about his back waxing/chest trimming/tight swimsuits and showing off his build for his "loved ones"? I read he was married, why the plural?

All in all, thank you OP for the very amusing thread.
