Just ran across another one

TBH - which I am assuming, in the context it was used in, to mean "to be honest"

(Sorry, to those who think mentioning some of these are silly. But some of us either don't text or as little as possible and have to type everything out fully. And this is the first and only forum some participate in.)

When I first joined, I was surprised this wasn't a stickied thread. There were so many people usually "DH" that I had no idea what they were talking about.

Thank you OP (original poster)!

Thank you for the support.

I have received no word on whether it even now will be, but I have requested it and hope they see it as worthy.

and still, TBH, did not know they where talking about a cruise, out and back,
from the same port.

CARP is the Canadian version of AARP so I assume it is Canadian Association for Retired Persons.......NCL does give both an AARP and CARP discount.

And all the "D"s (DH, DS, DD, DW) can also be "dam* or darn" when they are not being "dear or darling".

Nope. That would be two words. So instead of DW, DH, it would be DSW or DSH. Same could be written for Dumb A**. And would be written DAW or DAH.

Yes and no: Apparently thats what it used to stand for.
From their website
"CARP is a New Vision of Aging for Canada.
We no longer use an acronym.
Our members no longer need be retired. In fact, we’ve removed any age barrier from membership. 40 year-olds start planning their ‘retirement’ and have 65 year-old parents. 50-somethings are the sandwich generation, often supporting children and worrying about their own parents, while the 60-plus are redefining what it means to age; living longer, stronger, more vital lives.
Many people no longer wish to retire, and some can’t afford to retire… or they’ve reinvented retirement, with a second career, a commitment to volunteerism or mentorship."

Beats me, but then again I'm as old as dirt.
I think it probably had to do with before "smart" phones where you had to actually text using the telephone keypad and it took a lot longer to type words in length.

I think what really gets me is when these youth actually speak in acronyms.
ie. Shock of hearing something "OMG, did you see what my SIL did when she...., LOL"

Che5904 I found your thread today and find it no silly at all. Coming from an non English speaking country it was sometimes hard to find out wat all the letters stood for. Made it a sport to figure it out. The DH DW , wich people used very often , was a big ? ? for me at the beginning. So thanks for posting this.
