All Things Legend of the Seas (Post Revitalization)

There are “All Things” threads for many ships, but I have not seen one for the Legend of the Seas. If there is one, it is many years old, and I am creating this thread with the recent (Feb. 2013) revitalization in mind.

Please take a look at the information I have compiled and please post if there is any incorrect information, or if you can fill in some of the missing information. I am also sure that many of you well travelled experts can add some new information that I have not included about the Legend.

Please only add new information that may be helpful. I ask that this does not turn into a discussion thread with the dress requirements in the MDR, how to transport liquor onto the ship, whether smoking in the balconies should be allowed, etc.

I have also tried to separate the different types of information into separate posts, so hopefully, it will be easier to update in subsequent posts.

I hope you find the information I have included useful in your future trips on the Legend of the Seas, and I am looking forward to learning more information that I may have missed from the veteran travelers.

We'll provide all of the equipment, including shoes, helmets and harnesses. All you need to do is bring a pair of socks and, of course, your sense of adventure.

• For families that need more than 1 bathroom especially on formal nights, you can always use the gym showers.

Note: This thread is not to become a what to pack thread, so I am noting a few of the items that have been mentioned. If you want to read a wider discussion on items that are suggested for packing, read the “I wish I knew before” thread at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1086757, in which 90% of the thread is about what you should back, with most of the posts just repeating the same few items. So I have compiled one fairly comprehensive list from the aforementioned thread, many of these items I have never brought before, and probably never will, but I am listing them in case they are needed by you. Some items are specific to individual’s needs, the size of the stateroom, or if they are travelling alone or with a big family – so only take what is best for you. The E1 balcony staterooms on deck 6 have no fridge and poor storage since upgrade. Staterooms were outsides and balconys added. Just off April 5 sailing. Was booked into 6058 but were lucky enough to be upgraded JS8044. Our travel companions were not so lucky and found 6050 lacked fridge and storage limited. They and others were set to complain to RCI on return.

Ha ha.......the pics just added to our anticipation:D I agree about the dessert but they served some chocolate bites to make up for it.

 

Had a great cruise and really enjoyed the few days before in Singapore. May have to come back and spend more time as a lot to do. Had fun at the satay stalls outside Lau Pa Sat and earlier had egg tarts at one of the family bakeries in Chinatown....yum yum!

ILuvcruising - I did use a bunch of information from your review to create this thread (especially extracting data from the pictures of the menus, menu boards, and issues from the Cruise Compass.). I did link to your review in a few places (e.g., See Post #6). As I stated above, a fantastic review -- with lots and lots awesome pictures of the refurbished / revitalized Legend [as well as the reviews of the ports/excursions]. I just have one question - Did you have to get permission from any higher authority in orderr to share the pictures of the exclusive Diamond Club with us non-Diamond C&A members? [LOL!]

Some updates/additional information (which I had mistakenly not included above):

 

Pools - Neither of the pools are heated

 

Self-Server Ice Cream Machine - Flavors: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, vanilla/chocolate twist, and strawberry/vanilla twist

 

Smoking Areas - Smoking areas were outside decks on 4, 9, 10 starboard side, a designated section in casino, and at the few small outside tables outside of Chops on 11.

 

Library - Just to clarify, their is no charge for borrowing books & games.

 

Naughty Room - In another thread, a member mentioned that the "naughty room" was located on Deck 1 on another Vision Class ship near the medical center -- can someone confirm that this is also true for the Legend, or provide its location???

 

Questions:

 

1) Does anyone know is LOS is the acronym for the Legend of the Seas or Liberty of the Seas?

 

2) Does anyone have a list of all the specific shops in the Centrum?

 

3) How/where do you sign your kids up for Ocean Adventure? Are wristbands

for all kids, or only those kids involved with Ocean Adventure?

 

 

Request - If anyone is on any of the upcoming W. Med. 7 night itineraries, would you please share images/photos of your Cruise Compass from each day?

Great work. I saw you posted a question mark on the part relating to muster drill.

 

The answer is simple. All passengers must have a drill on the day of embarkation, before the ship can sail. Where there are multiple embarkation ports, they will only invite new guests to the drill. you have to attend - they know who you are and check you off against a list.

 

This procedure can be a bit boring for other guests who have to listen to the advance announcements, but they try to keep them as discrete as possible.

Thanks for the great information. It really helps someone who is thinking about cruising on the Legend but isn't quite sure.
