ORIANA capsized

Recommended Posts

It seems that the ORIANA is capsized during a windy day in Dailin, China.

She is grounded with at least three decks flooded.

A few more pics.

I don't think "capsized" is the correct term - though she certainly is listing heavily and it looks like she could capsize if she hasn't already (I don't know how current the photos are). I'm not sure if she's actually sunk or not but it looks like she might be.

Certainly very sad news.

I winced when I saw that one! It must be rather more current as the situation looks to be considerably worse. Unfortunately it seems like this is probably the end of ORIANA. Very sad.

Also I probably should mention, for the record, that the ship in question is the 1960 ORIANA, which has been a tourist attraction in Asia for many years now. (You can read more about her history here.) This is not the current 1994 ORIANA of P&O Cruises, which has most certainly not capsized or anything else.

Just found this forum and you just brought back huge memories.

Saided on Oriana twice ( 30 days ea) and then on same site I found the Arcadia. Said on it once for 45 days. Sad for what happened to those ships who were big in there time. But checking the sizes I said what was I doing on the Arcadia in the middle of the pacific.
