Drinking in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, etc.

I keep reading warnings about drinking the water in Mexico, but what about Marguritas, and other mixed drinks? I have been looking forward to a Margurita on Paradise Beach, but not at the expense of getting sick and ruining a vacation.

All opinions are greatly appreciated.

We don't drink Mexican water. When we do want to have a drink in Cozumel, we go to reputable places - Carlos & Charlies, Senior Frogs, TGI Fridays, where we know the ice is safe. We have done that for years and have never had a problem.

The tequila will kill whatever parasites are in the water.

The only thing I can add is I drank in Cozumel at Carlos and Charlie’s, it was only two drinks the whole day, and that night I was S-I-C-K!!!!!! I don’t know from what exactly, but it was NOT good.

Never mind that each drink was in one of those "yard" glasses.

The water at Paradise Beach is safe. We were there last month. Tom (paradisetom) is on the Ports of Call,Cozumel, message board. He answers questions there, and is the owner of Paradise Beach. He can explain how they treat the water. He can also tell you what other places have "safe" ice and water.

It is a great place to spend the day and I would love to go there again. I do have pictures in the link in my signature under the Grandeur of the Seas album.
