Cruising from NY in August

Has anyone ever cruised from NY in August. We went on our first cruise two weeks ago on the NCL Dawn and are thinking about taking the same cruise again in August (going to Florida and the Bahamas). I know that hurricane season begins in June but I was hoping to hear some good reports about traveling that month on a cruise.

Thanks for any feedbabk

the end of August and Septemeber are horrendous for hurricanes. It will be hit and miss. As longa s you are aware that this will happen you should be fine. If you booked a cruise during a hurricane I doubt very much they would cancel it. They would re-route your cruise to other ports.

As you know NYC is going to be insane the last week of August this year w/ the Republican National Convention. Getting out of town seems like a good idea to me. icon_smile.gif

Friends ran smack into Hurricanne Isabel last year out of NY/NJ & had a miserable time.

Hi Lena - I'm on Genesee - by Annadale! Small world!!

We are taking the Dawn out of NY to Florida/Bahamas on August 8. We took this cruise the end of April and it was great. I know we are taking a big chance in August but we are going with family and it was hard to agree on dates.

Is this your first cruise? April was ours - and we are hooked.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the both of us to get lots of sun! icon_biggrin.gif

Oh my, I can't believe how close we are. If you have kids in the age group of 19-27 we probably know each other. Anyways, this is our third cruise, and we are hooked. You will probably have great weather, so don't worry, be happy...
