shopping on Cayman Islands

I have read two articles about shopping on the island. One article stated that of all the islands this is the best for shopping duty free deals, the second article said its all hype. The prices are about the same stateside or about 5% less. Any opinions?

My experience with Grand Cayman is that everything is expensive there. Your US dollar is only worth $.80 there.

IMO, St. Thomas and St. Martin have much better shopping. Seems to be more competition.

WHen we went , after a few minutes of looking around, we stopped shopping!!!

Around here in our most expensive stores, a ladies leather purse could run you from 50.00 to 350.00. I seen some in Caymen that were over 1000.00!!!

I found everything higher than here in Texas. My husband collects coffee cups and we had purchased one in cozumel for $3.00 then $5.50 in Key west. But in GC the cups were $8.00 - $10.00 with no barginning!

We found the prices high in Georgetown and didn't buy too much at all. If you are going to be in St. Thomas or St.Maarten the shopping is much better there.
