Cruise music to put on a CD

Need song suggestions for a cruising CD. I remember there being a thread a very long time ago pertaining to this but I cannot locate it. People made suggestions like "Sitting by the Dock of the Bay," "Cruisin," "Red, Red Wine," various Jimmy Buffett songs etc. It was amazing how many songs people suggested.

Any help would be appreciated. I am trying to burn a CD as part of a gift bag for our traveling companions on the April 1 sailing of the Golden Princess.

:) Any music you're into is good cruise music. I happen to think that any Jimmy Buffett CD is great cruise music. My favorite is the live CD " Feeding Frenzy " . Good luck.....

We spent alot of time in the piano bar on our 2nd cruise so now I associate any Elton John and Billy Joel with cruises and always put them on our cruise cd, as well as Buffett and Bob Marley.:D

I just loved listening to Captain Jack by Billy Joel while sitting on the beach at HMC.

Wagner's Flying Dutchman?

I'm turning 60 (like the president) and I have just discovered the IPOD. You can take your entire collection of cds, books on tape, videos, in a package not bigger than a pack of cigarrettes. WOW! I have nice compact speakers so we can listen in our cabin. Technology boggles the mind!

I was just about to post this same question! All the suggestions are great - here are a few more I like -

3 of my favorite Buffett sailing songs - Tin Cup Chalice, One Particular Harbor, and Lovely Cruise

and Cool Change by Little River Band. Good luck with your CD - I'm at 36 days away from my cruise and just getting started on our CD. It's a great way to pass the time and build excitement!

I have several of the songs on the previous posts on my cruise CD and iPod Cruise Playlist.

Here are a couple others I have, Gilligan's Island Theme Song, My Heart Will Go On (Titanic Theme). The Celine Dion song has a special cruise significance for my wife and I.

:o Don't forget...the 'Love Boat' TV Theme song! Hearing that song makes me want to cruuuuuuuuise! LOL.:p

Last time we were in Belize our guide told us that Madonna's song "La Isla Bonita" was about an island off Belize...don't know if it's true or not, but it makes me think of Belize and what I was looking at when he told us.....

Are you looking for steal drum, calypso style music? I have compiled a great CD taking songs from may not so good CD which I've purchased over the years.

If you're interested I can but the tracks up on the web for download.

OK so how about some songs that are NOT appropriate for a cruise?

For example:

'My heart will go on' - Celine Dion (Titanic)

'Help' - The Beatles

'Don't you forget about me' - Simple Minds (as the boat leaves & you're late from your shore excursion)

'Six months in a leaky boat' - Split Enz

'When the ship goes down you better be ready' - Cypress Hill (radio play version...)
