Transportation from Fort Lauderdale Airport to Miami Port??

I am considering flying to Fort Lauderdale airport instead of Miami for our March 31 2007 sailing on Royal Carribbean.

1) Should we fly in the day prior to sailing? This may not be possible with our schedule

2) What is the best type of transportation from Ft. Lauderdale airport to Port of Miami? We are a family of two adults and two kids (ages 9 and 12). Do we need to prearrange a shuttle service and what is a good company to book with? Any idea on cost?

3) How long will it take us to reach the port? If we cannot fly in the day before, will this be too stressful?

4) Also, Southwest Airlines is only booking thru March 9. Does anyone know when they release the March/April schedules??

Thanks so much!!!

Good choice, FLL is some much easier to navigate.

Always a good idea, less chance of missing the boat if there's a weather delay.

No need to pre-arrange a service. Tri-County Airport Express operates the shared ride shuttle service at Ft Lauderdale airport. The cost is $18 per person. They also operate a car service. For $64 they will take the four of you to Port of Miami. Taxis cost between $75-$85.

When you arrive at the airport, collect your luggage and go outside the baggage claim area, lower level, curbside, contact one of our starters (customer services reps.) wearing a white shirt with "AIRPORT EXPRESS" in red on the back of the shirt and an emblem on the sleeve and over the breast pocket. Let the starter know what service you are interested in and he/she will assist you.

It's only 45-60 minutes to the port depending on traffic.

Sorry, can't help on that one.

Thanks so much!!!

Anytime ;)
