Costa Americana

Recommended Posts

My parents took me on this ship for my first cruise when I was 10. It had an old oval pool, and my parents thought the food was terrible. It was over the 4th of July in 1980. We got noise makers, and party hats for the show at dinner.

We went from Ft Lauderdale to Free Port to Nassau and back. In Nassau I had a big women jump out of the crowd and yelled "let the world be made with love", and she grabbed me and headed down the street. I finally broke free two block in later in an ally. My parents and sister were running behind yelling.

If I remember the ship was a very old tub then.

We went on one of this ship sometime in the early 80's. I really don't remember much except the tiny little porthole window and that I won a little trophy at the pool for stuffing ping pong balls in my bathing suit!

I did a little research and discovered that the Amerikanis was a Chandris ship that was rented out to Costa (if I remember correctly). It has since been scrapped. You can google the name and you will find some sites that have pictures of it.
