sheilb4 Posted January 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2005 Just got back this morning......I have to say I was happily surprised that the majority of cruisers were 30 - 40 age group, so I met lots of fun people and had a nice time...Of course, being alone was difficult but I made some friends and they kept me company most of the time...hopefully I wasn't "cramping their style"!!! LOL New Years Eve on board was very enjoyable, free champagne not only when I boarded on 12/30, but all night on New Years!! and it was pretty decent too! I was lucky because a friend I met shared his bottle of Dom with me and his other friend...yum! Cozumel! what a fun time I had! The highlight for me was the Dolphin Swim...OMG!!!! incredible! awesome! Then a night out in Cozumel was a blast! Negatives about the cruise was the food was very average. and choice minimal or repeated...ships decor had been refurbished apparently, no complaints there....Oh, but the Piano Bar.....the singer in there.....experienced it once for 20 minutes....quite painful!! Otherwise, the rest of the entertainment was fine, especially the filipino band, they were brilliant! I had fun and would go again another New Years for sure...Caught a cough/cold....have to blame that cute dolphin I kissed! LOL Any questions? ask away!!! cruise on carnival Posted January 3, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2005 glad to hear the positive review. i'm leaving for the inspiration on saturday and was wondering how many younger travelers there would be. we are in our late 20's but we'll be fine regardless. glad to hear that you had a good time.:)
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted January 3, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2005 Oh, but the Piano Bar.....the singer in there.....experienced it once for 20 minutes....quite painful!!! ... sad to hear that, it has been my experience that "hit or miss" (usually MISS) best describes the Piano Bar talent... There was a fellow playing guitar on the Legend over Thanksgiving who was also painful to listen to... How do they get contracts --- do they apply by e-mail, with NO AUDITION??? So, has the Inspiration been updated to include an Atrium Bar now? --- how about new mattresses and comforters??? (that was my favorite part of the dry-dock the Sensation went through a year ago..) Thanks, Tom
sheilb4 Posted January 3, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted January 3, 2005 There is an atrium bar, but most of the time it was fairly empty. The wife of the paino bar player, also plays here...she is as bad as her husband!! LOL and her costumes.....ugh! I also wondered about the "audition/interview" process...can there really be one... The interior decor was "ok" but had wear and tear. As for new mattresses and comforters....nope...same scrappy blankets with counterpane...and the cabin was freezing, with no way to turn off the a/c...at least in my cabin...prob why I am sick today with a cough/cold.... It was still a nice break away from work, which I must face tomorrow...
CTMak Posted January 4, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 4, 2005 I was on the Inspiration last Chrisatmas and the piano bar player, Dave, was Incredible!!!! The place was hoppin', people singing, drinking, he kept the bar packed and rockin' every night till 1:00 - 1:30. In fact, we kept him there so long that by the end of the cruise and the end of the evening his voice -- well let's just say that he stayed away from "Sail Away". But the crowd appreciated him even more for singing his heart out. From what he said, they have usually 6 month contraxts and then they change ships. Hope you get to see Dave. Not sure where he is now. CTMak

irislady Posted January 19, 2005 #9 Share Posted January 19, 2005 Just got back from the Inspiration yesterday. I had read your warning about the "Pianoman", but had forgotten, so the 6 of us went to the singalong. Jeez, Tim and Keely were even worse than y'all described! His singing was so bad that we didn't even recognize some of the melodies. Her outfits were LOL awful. Her voice actually isn't that bad, but she does those awful ad libs that are really annoying. Oh, well. We still had fun, but stayed clear of Tim and Keely when we could! Shae
