kellbellscruise Posted September 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2009 Hi all. Cannot express enough what a great vacation this was for our family. Carnival exceeded our expectations from the moment we stepped onboard. We arrived at Port Canaveral at 10:30 and were aboard by 11:15. There was plenty of staff to assist with questions or directions. We walked around a bit and took some pic's.

kellbellscruise Posted September 26, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted September 26, 2009 At about 1:30 we made our way down to our room. We had U222. It was a balcony cabin and I cant believe I didnt take a pic of the balc. My first reaction was it was small. But after being in it i would now say it was VERY COZY. I loved it. Perfect. The bed was very comfy. The shower was great. Never had any probs with hot water or pressure. The curtain never flew around either. It was just perfect. The balc had table and 2 chairs that you could recline. Great view and I spent alot of time out there in the wee hours looking at the sea and the stars. kellbellscruise Posted September 26, 2009 Author #11 Share Posted September 26, 2009 Before we knew it, we were called for Muster Drill. Now, I will say that the delay is people not listening. We did have to wait about 20mins for everyone to get to the assigned station (other guests, not us) for the drill which lasted about 15mins. So, it was during sail away that we finished up the drill. But, it was ok as we still were able to be outside for it. I loved waving at the people on land...

SMSACE6 Posted September 26, 2009 #16 Share Posted September 26, 2009 Looking forward to the rest of your review. Great memories for me. My third cruise was on Sensation. But that was also my first Carnival cruise as well as my first solo cruise. It was in October 2000. I have been hooked on Carnival ever since. Wonderful cruise and met so many wonderful people. Have since traveled on Triumph/Valor and looking forward to the Liberty next month......but always look back fondly on my Sensation cruise.....:)
kellbellscruise Posted September 27, 2009 Author #17 Share Posted September 27, 2009 Hi everyone. Again, sorry. My DD and DH tried Mongolian BBQ and they said it was pretty good. Everyone really liked the hamburgs. DD BF ate alot of pizza and I thought the Deli was great. You are gonna love the u227 balc room. We had early dinner in the Ecstacy Dinig room. On the first night we really felt the boat swaying, perhaps we were still getting our sea legs. I took dramamine everyday, for just in case. My DD had to take it the 2nd night, but I think it had more to do with all the food rather than the seas. On the 1st night I ate the Lasagne Bolognese (sp?) and it was good. I also had the Smoked Duck for app...yummy. And of course the Warm Choc Cake...it was good too. DH had Talapia and liked it. Dont recall what the others had. kellbellscruise Posted September 27, 2009 Author #18 Share Posted September 27, 2009 We docked very early Mon morn in Freeport. It was hot and humid. There is a little market/craft area right at the dock, but it didnt hold much interest for us. I regret not booking an excursion to a beach or something like that. They do make getting on and off the ship easy. But the water was pretty. It looks like they were building another dock, so there was alot of construction type machinery. It was cool watching the Harbor Master boat dropping off and picking up the boat navigator. There was a rainbow...this was not the Land side. kellbellscruise Posted September 27, 2009 Author #19 Share Posted September 27, 2009 At 4:00ish we set sail again..and let me tell ya. They back up the ship, then it spins around and then heads out of the Harbor, again with someone local piloting the boat. You can watch this in both ports as the other ships do the same thing..its very cool. The second night was formal/elegant night. They served Lobster and Shrimp this night..along with a few other things. Pretty much everyone ordered this. This was when the waiters sang for us..It's Amore".. it was sweet. Our waiter was funny, although he did alot of flirting with my DD. I did wish I had packed something a little nicer for me...but, I have had several surgeries on my left foot, so am very restricted on what shoes I can wear....but it worked for the night. There was a huge range of attire for the evening...so if you like gowns..take 'em..but if you wanna dress business casual..that was fine too. kellbellscruise Posted September 27, 2009 Author #20 Share Posted September 27, 2009 After dinner we had our pics taken, and then went and changed clothes. I headed to the casino and others just kind of walked around. We caught the 10:30 show "Far from Over" and we really enjoyed it. At the show, we did not get to meet the Captain because they said he was on the bridge. We had a medical emergency and they were traveling at full speed to get the guest to the hosp in Nassau, where he/she could be better cared for. We did notice when we went back to our room, onto the balc, that we were def going faster. I think we arrived in Nassau about 5am, about 2hrs early. They had the ambulance ready and waiting. Also, they were setting up a Midnight Mexican Buffet....as if anyone could stuff another morsel in their mouths. We were so exhausted so went to bed around 11:45. They did run 2 movies...StarTreck and The Proposal. Never saw much of either one as the beds and the rocking just made us crash. Just to clarify...they did serve free tea hot/cold, lemonade and coffee and hot choc and water all day. The juices were orange and apple in the morning. kellbellscruise Posted September 27, 2009 Author #22 Share Posted September 27, 2009 In Nassau, we scheduled an excursion with Carnival. The Catameran Sail and Snorkle. I think it was 55bucks a head. It was such fun, but I was glad I had taken the dramamine...big swells, and alot of people were getting water in the snorkle and choking. I just used my mask and held my breath... The water was spectacular, and we were so happy we did this. This was the ladder they dropped into the water. It was a little tricky getting back on but if you timed the swells right, it kinda gently pushed you up.. BEST FUN on Island. Tour lasted about 3 hrs...30mins to get to reef, 1 1/2 hous to snorkle, then they sailed us around Paradise Island and served a rum punch..it was tasty. kellbellscruise Posted September 27, 2009 Author #23 Share Posted September 27, 2009 They did have one little potty on board..just an FYI. ANd I meant it was the best fun we had on either Island.
kellbellscruise Posted September 27, 2009 Author #24 Share Posted September 27, 2009 We noticed walking back from the tour, there were horse and buggy rides. We decided to do this after we ate on ship and got cleaned up. I had a Rueben, and the rest of my family hit the burger stand up again. I never did locate "Fish and Chips".. Also, bought a very pretty map of the Islands from a little shop in the port area. It was 20bucks. But we are going to frame it..
kellbellscruise Posted September 27, 2009 Author #25 Share Posted September 27, 2009 Now, let me tell ya. Doesnt it look like we had a nice romantic ride? well, we got the ghetto tour for sure. For 30bucks, Derek, who never stopped talking but we could never understand him, had our horse doing a fast trot.. we had a wobbly wheel and could barely get pics, as we were holding on for dear life. He took us into a residential area, and his buddies were shouting at him..please think heavy accent here...Yo Derek, whatcha got dem out hear for? what ting you gonna show dem here now?? and alot of laughing... we were glad to get off that one...lol hear are a few of the lovely places he took us...
